OPUS X DBLE.CORONA 7 5/8X49 box of 32 - I'll be able to buy a whole box after the first of September - one of my buddies at a nearby store will hold one for me. IF I buy the whole box - what trades could I get? What kind of trade could I expect to get for the whole box? Make serious offers - also - I can order just about any one of the OPUS X series so feel free to give preferences.

Jeez,Jimmy..I don't know but with a full box,you would be calling the shots. Incidently the Dbl Corona is not best rated of these. The Robusto and the #2 torp have that honor. I have had a #2 Torp,a RDC and Petite Lancero. All were XLNT,but that RDC kicked my ass. X

Let's not get carried away, folks ... ;-)

Jimmy, a little advise. You've got one of the most sought after (and highly treasured) cigars on the market coming your way. You call the shots.

They are so very hard to get ... and they will be welcomed by many throught the world ... so you really have a big weight on your shoulders.

Just as a guideline to follow, THIS is the official Fuente MSRP's on the OpusX line. This, of course, is not what they really go for at some (most) retailers. They shouldn't be much higher than that ... or someone is gouging you.

Just an example, my co-worker went to Las Vegas a few weeks ago, and picked up a small (not sure of the size) OpusX for, get this, $45 bucks.

That's just plain robbery, and playing on the 'supply and demand' concept ...

I would be interested in a few (not to be greedy, and let others have the opportunity to try them) if you consider me for a trade.

I believe I can come up with price and quality comparable smokes ... and would be very interested in what you are looking to get your hands on.

My E-Mail Address would be more than honored, if you found a spot in your 'Contacts' for the big day ...

FYI: For the box I'm looking at (Dbl Corona), it's gonna run me a little over 6 bills out the door - so I guess I am getting a little of a gouge as it will work out to be between $16-$17 per stick. But, like has been stated before - where else can you get them in that quantity? Dunno what I'll do just yet - weighing my options and making sure my wife isn't looking for an excuse for filing for divorce .... LOL. But, I could possibly let it go as a sealed box as well .... hell of a birthday present for someone.....

I wouldn't call that a gouge Jimmy ... that's a great price for what you are getting.

I have bought a few Opus the last couple of months a couple of local shops... one carried only the double corona and it went for about $15 each with a limit of one per customer... a larger dealer carried about 8 or 9 of the sizes with no limits on any of the sizes and they were selling for between $12-20 depending on the size... picked up a nice selection and they even threw in one of the boxes (took the last two of the Perfection #2s...however this shop would seem to be a rarity with their selection and the "no limit" policy... I think everyone is right in telling you that you should be able to call the shots in trading/selling the extra you don't want

It's not an 'open-door' policy from the shop - it's an invitation that was made to me; not necessarily the general public and not necessarily an 'unlimited' supply to me on the number of boxes - 1 maybe 2. Personally, I don't really prefer the OPUS X myself, Perdomo's are my favorites (no, I'm not going to trade you box for box). If anyone is really serious, contact me offline and we'll work something out.

You're all insane to be paying those kinds of prices for those damn things. Yes they are good, but overdoing it is overdoing it. For those prices you could very easily find just about anybody that would be willing to send you a box of ISOM's plus a free t-shirt. I'm sitting here with a Diplomatico Torp in my mouth that cost me just over $14, and cannot believe what I am reading.

ISOM's aren't the 'holy grail' of cigars ... sure most are good, some even fantastic, but there are a lot of cigars out there far superior.

OpusX is one of them ...

Although, I do agree the OpusX line is easily the most over-hyped product in the cigar industry today. The amazing thing about the Opus line, however, the Fuente people have created a product that lives up to the fanfare.

From top to bottom, the Opus X line is superlative. The flavor profile is similar to the larger sizes in the Fuente Hemingway line (another great cigar, incidentally), but even richer, fuller and more complex.

The beautiful wrapper is Dominican, grown at Chateau de la Fuente, the family tobacco farm along with the filler and binder.

The bands and boxes are also works of art. I don't believe that any of the OpusX line has scored less than a 90 in the ratings.

In my estimation, the OpusX line are the finest non-Cuban cigars available and very well might be the best cigar in the world regardless of price or place of origin.

Those bands are pretty cool. If only a Diplomatico could have an OpusX band, or even a LaPerla band...humm. Yes, Cubans are overrated. I like them, I smoke them, but a $1 Sinatra will do me just fine for a night out.

Gonna have to disagree with you Slim. There are not many non-Cuban cigars that can compare to Cubans. Opus X is one, VSG is another. However, a good Cuban beats the hell out of 95% of non-Cubans. And a great Cuban, like the Serie D No 4 or the Bolivar Belicoso Fino, is truly without equal. The Serie D No 4 is, in my opinion (for what little it is worth) the best "production" cigar in the world.
