I have said here that I am idealogically more Democrat than Republican. The two party mentality kind of drove me to choose a side. I don't like the federalist leanings of the Reps. If they had their way only people who earn over a million a year would vote. The rest of us just don't have a vested interest. On the other hand, the Dems oppose certain ideas and legislation just because the other side came up with it. Party leaders routinely belittle what in some cases are good ideas. I feel like none of these guys cares about me. Ralph Nader has proven over the years that he is an advocate for the average american. This dude needs a good haircut and someone who can teach him to smile sympathetically. Someone good at spin and PR. Hey! Bill Clinton! I'm sure he can be had for the right price. Or maybe for an ambassadorship to....Russia maybe? Someplace where the booze is strong and the pretty women are easy. Adroomi can advise. I would like to see a debate in 2004 where the nominees are wired to polygraphs. A guy behind could give thumbs up or down.

I am sure the 2,000 or so Greens will welcome you with open arms! Enjoy throwing your vote away do you? Well, at least we can enjoy a cigar or two and not worry about politics, but I will stay with the Republicans! Charlie

Nader is not your average American joe. There is something weird about him. The problem with politicians is an old one: anyone who wants the job shouldn't be allowed to have it. Bush isn't the brightest, and Clinton was very disappointing for a man of his intellect and personal charm. Anyone who thinks living a secret life of indiscretion doesn't affect your work has not tried it. Gore? Not quite as animated as Bush, and very nearly as bright, having invented the internet and all. And good old Harry Browne is getting too old.

Oh, alright, I'll run. I didn't want to, but the country needs me. If elected, I will lower tobacco taxes, reinstate smoking in restaurants (cigars only), and normalize relations with Cuba. (That last, of course, is unless I am campaigning in Miami.) Egad. Harrrruuuummmmmph.

LLT: I voted for you in the last election. But I couldn't understand how to properly vote on my butterfly ballot. Now excuse me while I go sue somebody and spread the blame...

gore never said he invented the internet. he said that the internet was going to be part of our future and encouraged congress and the senate to get involved.

i saw an interview of gore and a very young bill gates, probably 10 or 15 years ago and they discussed this very thing.

the BS by the right wing, freako, cold hearted, self serving, what else, oh, mean to dogs and cats, and anti- hummingbirds, invented this lie also.

Ok, Rick, here is a repeat of that old canard and other vicious lies about President Gore:

During an interview on CNN on Tuesday evening March 9, 1999, Wolf Blitzer asked Al Gore how he was different than other presumptive Democratic challengers, such as Bill Bradley. "What do you have to bring to this that he doesn't necessarily bring to this process?"

Replied Gore: "I'll be offering my vision when my campaign begins, and it'll be comprehensive and sweeping, and I hope that it'll be compelling enough to draw people toward it.... I've traveled to every part of this country during the last six years."

Then came the kicker: "During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet."

*********

In the December 10, 1999 issue of the New York Times, Al Gore took credit for federal involvement in the toxic waste disaster at Love Canal, saying “I found a little place in upstate New York called Love Canal. I had the first hearing on that issue and Toone, Tennessee. But that was the one that started it all.”

He did sponsor hearings on October 1978— but that was two months after President Carter had already declared Love Canal a disaster area, and the federal government had offered to buy the homes. Lois Gibbs, leader of the Love Canal Home Owners Association, rebuked him in the December 3, 1999 Newsday with a simple “He did not begin Love Canal.”

***********

“I tell you that Michael Jackson is unbelievable, isn’t he? He’s just unbelievable.” Quoted in the Chicago Tribune (6/17/1998)

—Gore, attempting to curry local favor by commenting on Chicago Bulls star Michael Jordan

************

“Dear Mr. And Mrs. Delgadillo, Thank you for your letter regarding the protecting of the Texas eagle. I appreciate hearing from you. I share your view that the urgent problem of species extinction and the conservation of biological diversity should be addressed. The first step in saving any plant or animal from extinction is to become aware of and respect the fragile ecosystems that make up our environment… Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. I look forward to working with you for the future of our planet.”

—A letter from Gore to a couple who expressed concerns about the Texas Eagle, a local railroad train.

************

“We can build a collective civic space large enough for all our separate identities, that we can be e pluribus unum— out of one, many.” Quoted in Investors Business Daily (10/25/1996)

—Gore, misinterpreting the Latin phrase on our currency, which really means “out of many, one.”

*************

“2000 years ago, a homeless woman gave birth to a homeless child in a manger.” Quoted in The Washington Times (12/22/97).

—Gore, misrepresenting the story of the birth of Jesus. According to Luke 2:1-17, Mary and Joseph were traveling to register with the Romans in Bethlehem; they were not homeless.

************

“The extra-chromosome right-wing.” Quoted in The Washington Times (9/4/97).

—Gore, labeling conservative supporters of Lt. Col. Oliver North. Many people considered it an insult toward those with Down syndrome.

*************

“Who are these guys?” On CNN (1/19/93)

—Gore, asking a Monticello tour guide to identify the busts of Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, and Marquis de Lafayette.

************

And finally, the greatest claim of them all:

“I will say that I think that the ethical standards established in this White House have been the highest in history.”
Quoted on Meet the Press 10/13/97

Nice poem, Rick-you-am.

Dubya's list of gaffes is a lot longer, but Gore was pretty amusing, too.

Are you up late or early?

Quit with the 2 party rhetoric already! Charlie I think you have voting confused with betting. Though the concepts are similar in many resoects, in betting you try to pick a winner. In voting, you pick the person you feel is best suited to do the job the way you would like to see it done. Regardless of whether you think that person will win. I once thought Gore WOULD be better than Bush. I'm not sure there is a significant difference anymore. Any 3rd party is made to seem strange and whacko by the media. I admit, a wrestler (former) as Gov. of Minn. seems strange. And yet, Minn. is doing ok. Why not Nader? He has provided more of a public service than many elected officials. I am speaking of his consumer and environmental advocacy.

Rick, I resent your remark about being mean to dogs and cats and hating hummingbirds!!! The rest of the bull you threw on the post is totally acceptable! I happen to be close to a liberal when it comes to animals and animal rights! Save the whales, quit hunting bears and quit murdering Eagles! Charlie PS ans I believe poachers should be treated like rapist and murderers, this separates me from the extreme liberal left and ACLU who think that they can be rehabilitated or something of that order!

Run Dog Run! I agree with your slap at a media which screws Americans out of an accurate portrayal of the goings-on in our United States. I'm going to burn a Don Tomas and shift gears.

Betting on elections are not for me,
I am not the one to confront when it comes to Gore,
Because I think he is a total bore!
