Rick, you need a hobby! This obsession with anyone affiliated with the Republican party is unhealthy. You shouldn't harbor a grudge because Gore couldn't pull his own state and thereby securing the White House! Were you also badgering Clinton for his ineffectivness while in office? I guess if socialized healthcare, homosexuals in the military and a blatant absence of a domestic and foreign policy while selling us out to the Chineese government is more your speed then you had a glorious 8 year run. Get over it! Move on with your life!

Well stated, Rick will post more drivel opposing anyone who is for putting down the Terrorist and "detaining" folks for anti-American sentiment! I should be fair and say, that anyone who is a Republican! Democrats can do no harm in Ricks eyes! Go feed the hummingbirds and enjoy Southern California and be thankful you live in America! Charlie

"You shouldn't harbor a grudge because Gore couldn't pull his own state and thereby securing the White House!"
silly argument on your part. i didn't care for gore nor did i vote for him

"I guess if socialized healthcare"
we as a group should take care of the poor and the sick among us who need help. do you disagree?

homosexuals in the military"
there have always been homosexuals in the military. do you think only hetrosexuals can kill "the enemy?"

You're not irritating me one bit. I find it sad that a grown man has to sharpen his axe EVERYDAY on something he can't change! You had your chance and threw it away! If you want to pay for someone's healthcare then by all means do it. I'd rather spend my money on cigars and whatever else I want. I can spend my money more wisely than any government could. I can't believe that you'd rather be "taken care of" by Uncle Sam. Then again you're getting a SS check. Your kids and grandkids are another matter. The system won't be there for them because it's "taking care of" more people that didn't pay they're fair share. As far as being a homo and serving...you're right. They've been there and always have been, but they've been in the closet and not welcomed with open arms. While I was serving my country the last thing I ever had to worry about was some fudgepacker in my foxhole. Face it you're a bitter old liberal that can't change.

I believe you are implying iI am getting some sort of govt assistance.
You
have no idea what social security is.

It the return to me of money I was forced to invest
in a pool of money, during my life to provide a retirement benefit. I still have to pay into the pool
even though I will reap no additional benefits. This money will help pay your SS if the system is
still there.
Of course, when you are ready to receive your SS, you can tell them you don't
want any of the money rick put into the pool. Tell them you are not some kind of bleeding heart
that wants someone elses help

I receive from my social security $750.00 which is added
to my net adjusted income at some percent my accountant knows. I still have to pay into the pool
about $300.00 per month based on my earnings..
That means I net $450.00 before I pay
taxes on the social security.

How dare you imply that i am being taken care of by the govt.. I
will have to live another 15 years just to recoup my investment, forget about interest.

Are you
aware that congressmen do not have to pay into social security although everyone else is forced
to. They are allowed to have their own investment plan if they want.
The reason, SS is a
crappy plan and like any ponzi scheme will fall apart.

Also, there is a limit to how much
one can earn while collecting SS. If you work, which most people want to do, first to keep active,
and second, to earn enough to live properly.

if a person receiving SS benefits is
physically working he has a ceiling of somewhere in the $12,000 bracket before he starts losing
some of his benefits, i believe if you earn $100. you lose $50.
however if you earned enough
during your life to have passive income, money from investments, retirement income, or any other
income you do not have to physically earn, the SS benefits are not affected.

I have not bitched
about taxes, global warming, the enviornment, and a ****load of things that are important. I have
and will continue to point out what this moron and his AG are trying to do to destroy this country.
Go rent the video "soylent green" and you will find out about where the enviornment is headed.
Rent "1984" and you might get a glimpse of what is around you.

I have no reason to be bitter
and you saying it repeatedly won't make it so.. I don't wear a watch because I don't care what
time it is. Toby and I pretty much do what we want, when we want. Our lives are peacefull.

Because I point out these things that irritate you and others, does not mean they have any affect
on my life.

You have much to learn about life, my friend, and you will learn it in order to survive.

PS to jjohnson28--- I tried to use capital letters where they applied.

Sorry Rick, I have to disagree with you. I do not think that we should take care of the poor. McDonalds is always hiring. If someone does not have a job, it is their own fault. If some people feel the need to support those who are too lazy to go get a job to support themselves, then we should implement a program of work for these people. We (those who actually go out and through the sweat of our brow earn a living) will allow our tax dollars to be used to support the poor, but they will perform public service to earn the money. There are always roadways, beaches, parks etc that could use cleaning up. Road maintenance, upkeep of public buildings, whatever else needs to be done. People show up, put in a day of work, get paid at the end of the day.

With out taking sides. I have always been one who felt only those who actually pay taxes and not recieve all thier taxes back in refunds should be allowed to vote. Politicians for too long have been allowed to buy the vote of the lazy and irresponsible for the promise of giving something to them they have yet to earn.

Not one person has been able to or has even tried to dispute the caption on this post. Resorting to personal attacks is proof that you have no valid response to Ricks original post.
I will say this again What do you do with a lousy Government employee? Promote him! Too bad he is preoccupied with Iraq. If he would have instituted those education reforms you would all see what stupid tricks he has up his sleeve.

He was too busy in graduating from college! He was also a congressional fellow in 1968-69. He was already tied up in the President's administration for the remainder of the conflict. You don't get to work with the Pentagon with a coward's past. It's too bad that rick's constant badgering of the Republican party has completely blinded him from truth and reality.

I got out my thesaurus and was trying to help you out with, "i can't think of the word that means drawing a conclusion not in keeping with the information and/or facts presented." all intended in jest, trying to lighten things up a little

Rick is absolutely right in his complaints about Social Security ... it is literally a Ponzi scheme that is doomed to eventual collapse and one that would be deemed by the government to be illegal if run by private enterprise ...

Recalling that the SS scam was originated during the reign of the 'great' FDR and continually ramped up by the Dems in Congress ever since, I was more than a little bit surprised, although nonetheless quite pleased to read last evening's statement of his views on the subject ...

Actually we came off the gold standard in 1971. FDR can take a lot of blame for the sad shape America is in right now, but the gold standard reversal isn't one of them. I've often wondered why Congress and Senate haven't reversed many of FDR's giveaway programs.

you are correct. so far the best response was "Author: DrMaddVibe Date: 08/28/2002 09:15 AM Reply
I wish he'd drop one on you. The world would be less bitter."
that was on the picture post with bush the bombardier.

the strange part, in addition to wanting to atomize me,is why he obsessivly thinks that i am bitter. i am really quite sweet.

Then you're obviously a schizophrenic. Anyone that endlessly goes on a daily rant about a political party and boasts that they're sweet is an oxymoron. Get help for yourself. You come across as a bitter old man with serious issues. Bush as Hitler, Bush with an atomic weapon, Bush,Bush,Bush. Makes me wonder if you get enough bush! You're obviously "triggered" by the mere picture. You believe that you have an entire audience devoted to your political tirades. Do yourself a favor and seek medical help. You'll find that you'll have more time to enjoy life then "warning" us about your perceived evils!

Doc ... re; your post yesterday in which you said "Actually we came off the gold standard in 1971. FDR can take a lot of blame for the sad shape America is in right now, but the gold standard reversal isn't one of them. I've often wondered why Congress and Senate haven't reversed many of FDR's giveaway programs" ...

actually this country DID go off the gold standard in early 1933, at the outset of FDRs first administration ... in 1971 what the the U.S. did was suspend the exchange of our gold for foreign-held dollars.

As for whether FDR can be fairly blamed or not, well, IMNSHO, he can be fairly blamed for many, many things that are wrong with the US today ... but as you say, in all fairness, nearly all of the countries in the world went off the gold standard during the early 30's in the belief that their exports could be stimulated by devaluating their currencies in terms of foreign exchange.

Congress has not reversed his giveaway programs for the very simple reason that too many people would be hissed off if they did so ... Hubert Humphrey said it best at the Democratic convention in 1948 in predicting a long run of success for Democratic office seekers when he said "who'll vote for Scrooge when they could vote for Santa Claus??" ... all the giveaway programs are now called "entitlements" and no one wants to give them up ... the degree to which the scope and invasiveness of government has exploded and the amount of our very real freedoms lost to 'big brother' absolutely dwarfs the so-called loss of personal liberty that the whining, mewling liberals are today attributing to the current administration's efforts to preserve our national security.

Steve, after much of Europe faltered with depressions they(meaning European countries)went off of the gold standard. Paper money backed with gold bullion. FDR issued an executive order that is referred to "coming off of the gold standard". Instead the power went to the FDIC. They continued with the process until all of Europe was unbacked by gold. They continued this flim-flam until 1971 when the US officially went off of the gold standard due to the inflationary practices the Federal Reserve put us into. The Fed really forced the hand of US government into this decision.
