...as to what I should smoke tomorrow at the cigar bar.

I like mild to bold flavors, nothing too harsh. Spicey is good, flavored is out of the question. What about acid? Price isn't a consideration.

I would like to enjoy 2 different 'gars that are totally different from each other, but again, not harsh.

X, are you gonna come? ;)

Why would the Partagas knock my knickers off?

A very strong cigar that's not made "for the young" as John Wayne would say!

The La Gloria Cubana's are good. You liked the CAO Cameroon, try the CAO Extreme.Me personally I think you should try a Perdomo Reserve Maduro in the size called "X" or a size #5 smoke this first and then the CAO Extreme. The "X" is my personal favorite of this cigar though.

Anyone? Anyone? ...

Is that it? Well, I guess I'll go with these for now and check back tomorrow if anyone else has any suggestions on any other sticks before I leave for the evening.

BTW, what's the burn time on these guys?

I'm with Jimbo, Perdomo Reserve X Maduro is one of the best smokes out there!! The CAO eXtreme is also one of my favs but this one could be a little too strong for you though, for a milder choice try a CAO gold, or a Butera. Why doesn't cbid offer Buteras?? I love those things!!

I think you would enjoy an Excalibur #5. A smaller cigar, very ladylike. A bit sweet and spicy. Guaranteed to please.

CAO Golds are Yummie! LOL

Marla the X is a 1-1/2 smoke maybe more if you can find it you will like it. If they have La Luna Maduros Fuetes any of these are great as well, any size.Try the LLMF Bolido it's a big ash 8 X 52 and smoooooth you'll get an easy 2 hrs out of that one, they also jave a little Colada size that is a spicy kick ash lil fugger= 20-30 minutes. Enjoy,Jimbo

I thought all the recommendations were good ones right up to the 1066 ... good example of how taste varies from one to another ... Jimbo, I know your taste and mine coincide on quite a few cigars, but we sure part company on the 1066 ... and, I might suggest another not yet mentioned that I can recommend without the slightest hesitation ... the CAO Odyssey ... the Odyssey even comes in it's own little "coffin" ... (an individual box).

Burn time on a cigar will vary both by brand and size as well as how much "suck" you give it, but in general my experience is about 35-40 minutes for a robusto, 45-60 for a torp and 60+ for a churchill ... Marla, you mentioned having smoked a Drew Estates Sportsman torp ... how does your experience with that cigar match my times?

E,
I prefer sun-grown leaning toward spice and pepper. So my choices are in this order:
Ashton VSG illusion, corona gorda, robusto, torpedo
Padron '64 maduro in exclusivo or diplomatico
El Rico Habano in club or corona supremo
Camacho Diploma
Oliva O omni
Fuente Chateau sungrown
CAO cameroon robusto or toro
Perdomo The Cigar robusto

All these require a full stomach and the libations of your choice.
Have a great time!

smoke an egg, it will draw attention to you.

what is happening with the plants. toby gave me 2 angel vines for my birthday and i am training them to become trees.
when the angel of death comes looking for me, i'll be up the tree and untouchable.

eleltea: what was the name of that movie.

Davidoff No. 2. Panatela size, mild but tons of flavour and a dream to smoke. Will last about 45-60 minutes. Try something in the Padron Anniversary line (maduro, of course)- medium body and a ton of flavour (coffee and chocolate-mmm mmm good).

Rick: No eggs for me thanks! I've heard horrible things about them. Plants look the same as photo...still holding on!

Xrun: I'm not sure about your choice, but I'll check it out. I like the big boys!

JD & Cal: I'll look into your offerings as well!

Plabonte: Ya baby, I'll smoke your stick if you give it to me! Hemingway's in Old Town San Diego 2470 San Diego Ave. (619) 683-9393. We all should be there after 6 pm to close at about 1 pm...

You say "mild to bold" - that covers quite a bit. But you also said you don't like "harsh", so I'd suggest staying away from the ones considered stronger. I think you'd be in for a big surprise if you got a Partagas Black or La Gloria Cubana, both on the strong side. I've had only one Partagas Black and IMHO it was nothing but strong; little taste and just harsh (although I did smoke it the day after I got it, so it may have been a little young). One of my favorites are LGC maduros, but those are also on the strong side.

I'd suggest instead to go with some tasty yet milder cigars like (all in natural wrappers) Punch Gran Cru, or Leon Jimenez, or maybe Astral. Many call bland cigars mild cigars, but these listed here IMHO aren't bland.

EC, the answer is Excalibur. Pick your favorite size, they're all good. CAO Gold too. Hemingway too.

TGIF BABY! Ok, just a quick shower and a hop in the car and I'm on my way to the candy store...er, cigar bar! I'm so jazzed to try new ones! Woo-Hoo!!! Don't you just *wish* you still had my enthusiasim (geez, I'm questioning my spelling here, had a few glasses of champagne with the girls)

Only bummer is that it's sorta drizzely (sp?) out and I want to sit on the patio...

I've gotta learn how to draw a cigar graphic like one of you guys did a few weeks ago!

BIG GRIN!

Bold Flavors?
1.Expensive:Don Carlos Opus X Padron Ann. or Magnum(not to expensive but large).I have a growing collection curing in my humidor;A bit pricey but wow what great cigars.
2.Good Price; well for the price the Punch Rare Corojo is great(4.50-5.25 a stick).

Mild
I am not sure if I ever smoked a cigar as mild as the Ashton(name the size) with exception perhaps of a 1983 Vintage Mac. Churchill.

Hello
If you have not tried the Rare Corojo by Punch I would seriously give it a shot.It is very flavorfull(Spicy Hmmm good) medium to full bodied and a good price at least in most cigar store in Florida.I am not typically a big fan of Punch but this one is well worth it, make it fresh as always.

I agree with cigarsmoke. The Ambrosia line from Drew does give a little lip tingle. I like "mother earth" the best...if you haven't tried them you really should.
