My buddy said he bought some Cuban Montecristo's in the Dominican. I took them off his hands, and they may be, by far the worst counterfeit job. These "Habano's" actually don't taste too bad, wish I knew where they were from.

habana and habano are not the same word. habana's are cuban (assuming they are not fakes).

the best info i have is that habano means they are made from cuban leaf or leaf from cuban seed. slimboli would know more about that than i do.

Habana - is just the spanish spelling of Havana ...

Habano, adj Havanan or m Havana cigar. The m just means it's in the masculine tense ...

Also, one thing that I've been told by many ... the Dominican Republic is one of the worse places to buy Cuban cigars. It's rampant with counterfeits ...

They still may be made with Cuban leaves (in Cuba) and many are very good cigars ... just not made in the factory that the band states. These are called 'farm' cigars ...
