Has anyone here had any trouble getting life insurance or getting charge out of this world for it. Cigar smoking isn't as bad as cigeratte smoking right?

There are companies that have special rates (special meaning higher than non smokers but less than cigarette smokers) for cigar smokers. Principal Life is one. Cigar Af. did an artical on this a few years back, you may check their online archive.

Like they said answer truthfully. No, I am not a cigarette smoker. I looked in my crysatal ball and you don't need to worry about smoking. A bus is going to run over you on Feb 19, 2023.

Wow, and I was worried that all of my questions would never be answered and I would grow old and gray just wandering wondering.

My insurance company considers ANY type of smoking as a higher rist with higher premiums.

It doesn't pay to lie, you'll only be cheating your loved ones if something should happen.

that and the nicotine shows up in the blood test you are required to take for most policies.

If you quit smoking for (I believe) for a couple of weeks, it won't show up. It may be more ...

There was extensive talk about this at CF awhile back ... check their archives in the 'Clubhouse Room'.

Just talked to an insurance agent that joined our cigar group. Asked him this very same question. His reply was "Quit smoking for two weeks, take their tests and pass".

I started a new policy about 9 months ago. The insurance company sent a nurse (or someone dressed like one) out to my house to answer health questions and take specimens. She did a mouth swab and I had to give a urine sample. It's pretty standard practice for a lot of companies if you are getting a high coverage policy. One of the things they check with the mouth swab is nicotine levels.

I answered the questionaire honestly regarding cigarette smoking (I don't smoke cigarettes)and also volunteered the fact that I "occasionally" smoke cigars. The test results indicated a nicotine level that made my premiums higher.

I agree it's better to be honest when it comes to these questions because they can dispute claims against policies that were obtained with false information.

I was a little suspicious when she said she had to hold it while I provided the specimen but hey who am I to question an authority figure?
