I received a shipment last night and it was missing
some Acid Def Sea's. The invoice was noted "back ordered". How the hell due you put something up for auction that you don't have !!
Not a good sign.

One possibility is that during the duration of the auction, someone may have come into the store and purchased the product. Didja call cust. serv?

That happened to me a while back ... I wasn't too concerned at first and waited a few weeks, but the back order was never filled ... I called to see what was up ... their CS was able to quickly get to the root of the problem, fix it and get the 'gars sent out ...

Knowing what I know now, I'd make the call sooner ... call 'em up and see what's up ... based on my experience, those guys/gals will do a good job of taking care of you ...

Certain things ... should be kept to to private email ...

...no need to bring it up to public opinion.

Just my opinion.

I agree Slim. He must be new cause the customer service threads are pretty common.
The 1-800 number is right here on the left of the screen. People should complain to customer service before they complain to us. Do they think we are gonna send thim some free cigars! LOL

Hey, I resemble that remark ...

Here I try to get new guys to send new cigars to ALL of you, then I get to take a bunch of flack over it ...

I think I'll quit trying and let you all navigate for your own free 'gars.

I don't see this post as a complaint so much as an observation. He makes a good point: How can you auction something you don't have?

I have experienced this too. Strange but not alarming. I got the smokes a few weeks later and payed no extra shipping. I have other smokes. At these prices, I can wait.

I agree, nothing should be put up for auction unless it is on hand, and once it is up for auction it should not be sold even to someone ordering at full retail. Of course it could quite easily been a honest mistake, and based on their customer service you should probably give them the benifit of the doubt. I also noticed that cigar companies like to throw around free cigars when they make mistakes, so you could be better off for the mishap in the long run.

Thank you for your support.
The more astute amongst you did realize it was more of an observation than a complaint. CI picked it up off the forum and e-mailed an explanation.

P.S. - Slimboli ? Is'nt that a kind of sandwich ?
I think I had one in New Jersey once....
It gave me gas.

I think it sucks, don't tell me that "all sales and auctions are final by contract," then email me and tell me that the Lars High Life Jokers (full chest) I won are not in stock and will never be again, and that I can have 30 of a different cigar. This has happened twice to me. Delete this post if you want, but a contract works both ways. Rembember that.

I agree. Dont put them up for sale if you dont have them.

Its unethical and besides that its just not good business.

P.S. - I have a couple of boxes of pre-embargo Cohiba's if anybody is interested (:'))

Here an attempt to explain what has happened here (I'll be the sacrificial lamb for you guys, so bring it on):

We inspect every box as it comes into our inventory. We then take a physical inventory of product as it is posted for auction. (Unfortunatley we can't open each box and inspect every single stick.) Orders then come in up to a week after an auction closes (with our weekly shipping option.) So, it could be up to 2 weeks since the auction was posted and the order is ready to go out the door. So, how does that explain why a backorder happens? Good question, I'm glad you asked. Let me give you an example.

Our system says "10 boxes Acid Root". When it comes time to actually pick the 10th box (which could be a week later for our weekly shippers), you find either:
1. It's damaged for whatever reason (crushed box, opened box, etc.)
2. It's missing (or missing sticks) b/c our CSRs sent Joe Customer an Acid Root yesterday b/c he said the box he opened was stale.

We work very hard to keep every customer 100% satisfied with our service and try to react to any issue immediately. Unfortunately, backorder situations happen for a variety of reasons that are either out of our control or a direct result from an attempt to keep our customers satisfied.

I can also assure you that it's a fairly uncommon occurrence as a percentage of all the products we sell on this site. I'd be happy to investigate any backorder situation for anyone if you wish. For those of you that know me, I'll tell you like it is, no sugar-coating. If we screwed up, we'll make it right. Just let me know if I can do anything.

Unforeseen circumstances cause every business to make adjustments from time to time ... the more organized and well-functioning the business is, the fewer unforeseen circumstances will arise ... what distinguishes the better organizations from the rest of the herd is their ability to make the requisite adjustment with the greatest degree of relative ease and the least discomfort to all concerned ...

Again, let me say that based on my experience, Cigar Bid / Cigars International does a superior job of taking care of customers and deserves compliments rather than criticism for their customer service ...

I don't consider it inappropriate to discuss a problem with an order here. As a matter of fact, the creation of this thread has given me a new respect for Cbid. Not only do they and have they ALWAYS made good on an error. They watch their online forums and pay attention. This problem was resolved in....what...less than 24 hours.
Excellent explanation Gonz. I just like the fact that every time they mess up, they send out a box of Arturo Fuente Hemingways. Way to go Cbid!

I disagree. This person complained before he called customer service. They fixed his problem from this thread. If he would have spent 10 seconds extra to search for "Customer service" on this forum he would have found that this place has excellent customer service and he could have called a 1-800 number to fix his problem.
If he would have expended 10 seconds worth of effort and called customer service he would not have had to make the thread.
Look at the volume of auctions her every day. Plus the web and catalog orders. I bet they temporarily lose stuff often. I lose stuff on my desk at work! It always shows up by the time I need it.
Backorder does not mean we are breaking our contract.
If you are too lazy to make a phone call you shouldn't show off your laziness here.
They should've sent him some broken ones!

Getyourown,

Why dont you take 10 seconds and get your own head out of your own a@#

I think that CI's response time was excellent, however my point is valid, it is not good business practice to offer something for sale (and ready for delivery) when you do not know for sure that you have the product.

I have had 1 back order, on one 5 pack, out of say... 3 or 4 HUNDRED 5 packs. 0 boxes on back order out of 30 or 40 boxes. That tells me that Cbid /Cigars International is on their game. Inventory management is not easy, not with the volume of cigars they move each week.

Either way, the count down did bring some extra anticipation.

Well, fell lucky they didn't send you the Acid cigars, you just might live a little longer. They aren't much better than urinal cakes.

I don't purchase backordered cigars from anyone. I discovered backordered items on my packing list on two occasions. Each time I called and cancelled the back order and got a refund for the shipping charges on the backorder.

Teninx --- It looks like you will never get any (at least on internet or mail-order) of the finest and most sought after cigars in the world (i.e. WOA, Best Seller, 858 SG, as well as many others) ...

... being relased only once a year (and not every year) in extrememly limited quantities, that is the only way you can get them.

I know people who have been on 'backorder' lists for 18 to 24 months to get a box of certain cigars ... and it's well worth the wait!

Here's a nice little story: I ordered a box of premium smokes. I smoked a couple. They didn't burn right. I tried several different strategies, nothing worked. I had went through 8 cigars, all bad. I called customer service. This is like, 2 months after the initial order. Well beyond the stated 15 day return policy. C-Bid sent me a Fedex label for return and sent me a replacement box. The replacement box is bad too. I get another Fedex label for return and FULL credit. THAT my friends, is customer service above and beyond the norm. And I am now a loyal customer. Go ahead give me an occasional backorder. In the long run, I am way, way ahead.
