Has CBID ever had a chat room set up on here? If so, why was it taken down, and if not, are there plans to set one up?

As far as I can remember, I don't remember CBid having any chatroom (????)...I like the idea though!..There's a lot of people here (including myself) who would organize regularly scheduled chats if this becomes reality

If they don't couldn't one of us set up a chat room where we all could come and chat live about cigars, life, etc?

Chat rooms are good if you have a large amount of people on at the same time. C-Bid would have to take a look at their page views, bandwidth requirements and monitoring to see if it would work without costing too much.
We could really do some argueing and fighting with a chat room.
Maybe they want us to bid not chat. LOL

I remember when NFL.com had a chat room. You picked a helmet for a symbol and a name. It was very fun. As the internet grew the teenagers came on and started cussing all the time and the monitor was busy booting people.

I do web design / computer work. I lease servers and host some different sites. I could set us up one on one of my servers and we wouldn't have to deal with the free ads or pop-ups from a non pay site. Anybody interested?

I will start working on it then. If it works out and becomes popular then great and I will feel like I have given something back to all the great people here. If it doesn't then no harm no foul. I will make a page under one of my domains and put it on my server. I will let everyone know when I get it done. Shouldn't take me too long.

I have completed the chat. I couldn't decide if we wanted a java, html or php. I thought the php would work well for us.

Rick, you know the owner so you have a pass for life. No need to get stamped. I do think we should set up like a time that we could have a chat. Maybe a time where you ol'dogs could tell us newbies a thing or two.
Maybe we could have a flavored cigar chat (ha)
We could incorportate a calendar where someone could post a chat time or idea and then we all would know when it was.

When I walked into the chat room, right away I was told to be pleasant and polite ... guess either my reputation has preceeded me or some of you other rowdies have stirred it up to the point everyone is getting the P&P instruction ...

But, although I was careful to actually BE pleasant and polite, no one chatted with me, so I left ... pleasantly and politely, of course.

I'm always polite but all I heard was the sound of my letters bouncing off the far walls of the chat room. I think you should set up a time...say 9 pm Eastern Time and see how many people show up. I think it has a lot of potential!

The Texas view is that it's that part of the US that lies somewhat to the right and above TX as you look at your map ... if you don't look too carefully, you'll think those are the counties in one or two other states ...

For the rest of the US, however, the view of TX is a bit different ... many think it's located on the back side of the country, in the area somewhat below the waist but above the legs ...

Why hasn't Texas floated out into the Gulf of Mexico yet? Because you damned Yankees suck so hard 8-)
I was very disturbed when I went to see a friend of mine in New York and could not get anything but Heinekin (sp?) or Labat in the bars....

Too many bugs to be worked out...I can see who is in there (Bullwinkle and Cigarbroad) but when I click on Chat, I get a double "Action Canceled" Microsoft Explorer message and it brings me back to the log in screen..I can hear someone saying "Hello" repeatedly but that's it...Oh well...Back to Yahoo Chat I guess

Just checked it out for the first time.

Ok, so nobody was there. Would someone please set up a date and time? I say nightly at 8 pm Pacific time to include our east coast people. I'd prefer after 9 pm, but it may be too late for east coasters...

Or maybe just weekly until people get into the groove?

Saw this thread pop up and thought I would give it a try. I was in the chat area for awhile with noone there. But then someone came in and we had a nice long chat. The room is a good idea. Easier to chat with someone then post messages.

I got on again today. I had a good chat with two different people from the boards. You have to give it time. If you log into the chat room and then 3 to 5 min log out. You will probally not see anyone. Log in, if no one is there, then open another window to do your web surfing. Check back to the chat every now and then. I think someone will pop up.

Go for it if you like but I think a forum like this is way better.
