Hoyo De Monterrey prensado oscuro. Like smoking a tootsie roll dipped in espresso. Anyone else want to roll their two pennies in on this one?

I tried one last week and immediately bought a box. Excellent cigar! I get compliments on the aroma, even from non smokers. I don't think I'll let myself run out of these.

Well the Perdomo Reserve X in Maduro is hard to beat IMO. I've mentioned the La Luna Maduro Furete line, after that the CAO Extremes, they'd have to be considered Maduros, right?

I really enjoy the La Aurora #2 Maduro, treasure the 'Work of Art' Maduro, and more often smoke the Mayorga 'High Octane' ...

Does the CAO Brazilia count as a maduro? If so, the Piranha is outstanding, and I can't wait to try the Oliva 'O' Maduro ...

There are many others I like (since maduro is my favorite wrapper next to sun-grown), but it's too early to think ... LOL!

Ditto ALL of the above ... nothing but good cigars mentioned so far ... how on Earth could I ever pick ONE of those as a favorite ?? ...

Yeah, Slim ... you're right in wanting to try those Olivia "O's" ... they're good cigars ... there are some other good maduros that I like too ... Indian Tabac Super Fuerte Maduro, Bucanero Maduro, Bahia Maduro, CAO L´Anniversaire Maduro, La Aurora Maduro ... the list seems almost endless and there are still so many others I have yet to try ...

And, I dunno how I could've overlooked it .. just yesterday, I tried a Butera maduro ... a tad on the mild side, but smooooth as silk ...

So many maduros ... so little time .....

A new maduro I really like is the Vega Talanga Reserva Tercio. Another is a self-titled proprietary cigar of a certain initialed competitor, particularly the Oscuro Toros.

Padron Magnum Maduro is unreal, though everyone knows that. Take it golfing...if you're good, it will last up to about hole 15, but if you play like me, it lasts until you find your ball in the rough on hole 4.

My favorites would be: Ashton Aged Maduros (Thanks again, Cliff), Bolivar Fuerte Os, LGC Serie R, the Prensados and El Original. Of course, I really should mention LLMFs, Mayorgas, LREs, Sosas and Internationals (if you know where to get these, please let me know).

Slim & Steve, believe it or not, I really didn't realize what I did until after I posted my message!! I wish I could take full credit; that would have been pretty clever if it was on purpose! I think it's harder to believe it WASN'T on purpose!
Anyway, are those initialed cigars really good? Oh yes jey are!

Do a 'Google' search using 'Hoyo De Monterrey Prensado Oscuro' and you will find tons of them ...

... and to answer your question, yes, the Excalibur Prensado is the 'toro' size, 6 1/8 x 48.

One you might also want to consider, is the Hoyo De Monterrey Rothschild Oscuro, if you prefer a shorter, fatter style ... and it is not in the Excalibur line up ...

Slim

I tried the Oliva 'O' Maduro last weekend, it is a GREAT smoke. I bought 2 and lit the second one as soon as the first went out.

May be Cbid can put them up for bid?

Robert --- it took me over a month, but I finally found and scored a box of the Oliva 'O' Ole Maduro ...

... I was told from my source that due to the high demand on the maduro, it would be six weeks before he 'possibly' could get more of them ...

I'm locking these up!

Barry ... any one ever mention the Olivia "O" to you? ... those are a fine maduro that I'm sure you'd enjoy ... swing by your local store and pick one up when you get a chance ... you'll see what I mean.

lol ... I couldn't resist ... swing by my place this afternoon ... I've got a couple of them and we can puff on 'em while watching the late games or the ESPN game ...

oh, and while I'm thinking about favorite maduros ... I smoked a Bahia maduro last night that was just SO good .... dunno how I left those off my list above ...

Steve,
I've got a couple of the Oliva O sleeping. I just haven't had the Maduro yet.
Last Friday night Mr. Mean was in Houston and we hooked up for a mini herf. I startd with a PAM Exclusivo, he was smoking a Padron 2000 when we met. My second smoke of the evening was an ISOM San Cristobal gifted to me by Mr. Mean. He's not so mean after all. he,he. I finished up with a HDM Prensado Oscuro.

For those of you looking to find them (at a price) the Olivo O Maduros are available at Smokin'Toys Int'l on Michelson Dr. in Irvine, CA. They are really fine cigars, hard to find and not cheap!

Slim ... I came across them in Utah and picked up three .. smoked one on my birthday and have two in my humidor ... they are still in my humidor, despite being a really wonderful cigar for the simple reason that I have yet to find replacements for them ... if they WERE easier to find, I'd have got more and those'd be the ones aging ... Also in Utah, I picked up an Opus X at a price far below what we'd have had to pay here in CA and also got several Bucanero maduros which are not only difficult to find in CA but to my knowledge are impossible to find inasmuch as Bucanero has no West Coast distribution ... I have four of those in the humi alongside the two Olivias ..

Another of my favorite maduros I didn't mention, but should've done is Mayorga ... I know that not everyone agrees on this one, but to my taste, this is one fine cigar ... smoked one last night and wondered how I'd ever overlooked mentioning this one among my favorites ... then I recalled the last Mayorga maddie I'd smoked ...

Those of you that saw the moose pics I posted last month might remember my saying that I'd been smoking a Mayorga maddie when the moose showed up and that they'd left right after it was nubbed ... I reminded MrsS last night that it'd been a Mayorga that had drawn the moose and told her to keep an eye out for 'em in our back yard, but they never arrived ...

Charlie,

I can get the "O" maduro for 6 bucks a stick. Is that expensive? The same shop has short stories for 5 bucks a stick, plus tax of course.
