I recently tried an experiment at this auction site. I was going to try and win two auctions for a 5 pack of AF Hemingways and a 5 pack of some fine Gurkha premiums. I researched the cost of these items over the 'net' and through my local garmaster. I bid up to the amount I could buy these items from my two outside sources, only to lose both auctions. Losing didn't surprise me, but what did suprise me was the last bid amounts. The Hemingways went 22% higher and the other 28% higher that what I can pay if I just made a stop on the way home. Either these items are lacking in certain areas of the country or fever got the best of the bidders????? I'll continue trying to catch a few "deals" but I'm starting to think it may be my Rubic's cube.

I would bet more so that the cigars aren't widely available in their area shops and also that the bidders don't want to bother doing their homework and checking prices online...Tsk tsk tsk

Get up, dead horse ... get up and run I say ...

Subject matter has been well and thoroughly beat in the past few weeks ... that said, I feel obliged to point out too, that local prices vary widely depending on local taxes ... one mans bargain is another mans overbidding ... factor in possible lack of local availability, inadequate homework and add a touch of bidding fever and you get results that produce this sort of post on a constant basis.

Please let this poor ol' horse RIP

Look at one of the comments on the Hemingway Classics up for bid.

They have been at the local stores for a month now. Even a Masterpiece.

Also some stores have a 2 a day limit. And some do not sell boxes. On-line may be the only way for some.
