Hey, if you look hard enough into the doorway you can see a face staring back at you. Looks kind of familiar but I can't place the face. LOL JonR

RICKAMAVEN, This was in Mazatlan. Everywhere you looked there were signs in the shop windows saying "Cuban Cigars".

At least this place opened a new box of Cohibas for me. Now I am not an expert as to stamps, etc. so I can't say for sure that it wasn't a counterfeit. But the cost of Cohiba Especials was $10 apiece. I got a Bolivar Royal Coronas for $13. Partagas Coronas for $12. All were very good smokes. There was also 2 regular smoke shops in Mazatlan. Their prices were right in line with the shops along the street and there "wares" all looked alike. So as some one said "Counterfeit or not, if you enjoy them then they are worth whatever you paided for them." But at these prices a few will go a long way.

Now whether it was my imagination or what I would say that they had a distinct taste difference from my own cigars that I took with me. A few of these cigars did get mixed in with my regular cigars. I didn't notice this until I got home. Hhhmmm, can anyone tell me what I should do with them?...69

Better send them to me. I live near the border and can return them.

Speaking of 'Real Cuban Cigars', I gave one of my ISOM Cohibas to my S-I-L this weekend in Palm Springs...we were partying with the band and roadies of Marc Anthony after the concert.

I offered several of my cigars around to the people there, but only a few of them smoked. When they asked what we were smoking, mine was the Fuente Gran Reserva which I absolutely loved and her's was the Cohiba.

Someone asked if it was a real Cuban cigar and I was able to point out that it was by noting the whiter color of my ash compared to the nearly black color of hers...it's a soil thing. I just love the info I've learned here!

I particularly don't enjoy the Cohiba and didn't have any problem handing them out! Everyone should experience it at least once.

Sorry, no pics to attest to the fact...only great memories with some fun 'wack-o' people!

I see the long filler drying to the left of the doorway, propped against a window.

next time you go to mazatlan, go to any one of the "tres hermanos" shoe stores. they have great all leather zip sides (you won't need winzip for the zippers), half boots very cheap. there are probably a half dozen down town.

i hope you didn't buy any watermelon or any other fruit from their street vendors.

also carry ass wipes. if you are lucky enough to find a toilet with a seat, you will find they don't seem to supply toilet paper.

i am guessing you are on a mexican riviera cruise. if so, what cruise line, and did you have a good time?

Rick is right about the toilet paper. At a bus station a guy with a podium sold toilet paper for 10 cents a handfull.

RICKAMAVEN... We have a time share at the Pueblo Bonito (the resort as oppossed to the new one on Emerald Bay). We usually go down for a couple weeks at a time and just lay around, SMOKE CIGARS, take it easy and eat lots of seafood, especially lobster. One day I bought 6 live lobster from a guy on the beach for $15. SWEET!!

You are right about the leather shops there. A couple of "bikers" and their wives were there and one of the guys, a very large guy, had a set of riding leathers made like farmer john overalls. The tailor told him as he was leaving the shop, "Many cows must die for this." He said he saved several hundred dollars by going down there...69
