btw, Zero 7 "simple things" cd. killer laid back cigar smoking music which is best listened to in a room with minimal soft lighting. the music is welllll, best described as a mish mosh of electronica/jazz/soul.

Rick, I am happy to inform you that Frank Sinatra left the Democrats and went Republican when Ronald Regan ran for President, in fact he spoke for Regan at the Republican Convention in Kanass City! Blue Eyes saw the light and joined the Republican party!

Nebraska by Bruce Springsteen. At first you don't remember the 80's being this bleak, but as you listen you are reminded of all the great things (cold war, farm forclosures, etc) that were going on. Another perennial favorite that is on current heavy play list is Trinity Sessions by the Cowboy Junkies. Talk about the ultimate in mood music, the cover of Sweet Jane is so far beyond the original that it can't even be compared to it.

"Black Eyed Man" was another great Junkies CD. Are they still recording?

My duaghter gave me the Norah Jones CD as a birthday gift. She knows my tastes in music better than anyone. BTW, Mr. Sinatra bolted the Democrats after JFK double crossed him twenty years before the Reagan nomination.

I always bring a Louis Prima CD to the weddings on my fathers side (Italian).
And I loved him in that animated Disney Movie, the Junglebook.

Lately it's been mostly new stuff. POD, System of a Down, Chevelle, etc. Linkin Park is still a favorite.

Sinatra was pissed because JFK snubbed him after he remodeled his whole Palm Springs estate including a new helipad for a presidential visit. RFK didn't like Franks mobbed-up friends. Frank was closer to Nancy than Ronnie. Frank played golf with Ford and Agnew in PS. He began life as an FDR Dem. Don't think even Frank would do Eleanor, tho.

All I seem to listen to lately is the Beatles. My teenage wife has been playing Sgt Pepper for a month. Well, she was almost a teen when the Beatles infected us. I prefer Bill Evans.

Louis Prima and Keely Smith were great fun. She was a Buster Keaton deadpan, just the opposite of the wildly extroverted Prima. I think Keely was Cherokee. Cute. Turn the volume up on one of their CDs and pretend you were in Vegas when the boys ran it. Great fun.

eleltea,
judging by your tastes in music, you are a man of many parts. I bought my first Bill Evans Trio album in '67, coincidently, the same time as Sgt. Pepper was released.

Touche...

Don't really need the things listed if you listen to Godsmack ;) you'll be pumped up enough from their energy. They are one of THE best rock bands ever. All of this other spin off stuff is for the birds and potheads...lol!

And I'm not an angry person...maybe it's released as I'm rockin' out, head banging, and dancing to their songs...it can be a real turn on for me. You'll always find it in my cd player.

You can have Beck, Moby, Alanis and Dave Matthews too!

To each his own...and speaking of anger, anyone love Disturbed too?

E-Chick, my friend helped produce Disturbed's first album. They're ok...kind of similar to all the other power-cord bands out there though.

BTW, I saw Godsmack live about 4 times if my mind serves me correctly. Lots of energy, lots of noise, lots of fun. However, no band can out-perform Tool onstate. They are, by far, the best sounding live band out there.

Marla, you're turned on by hardcore music? Go to a Slipknot concert :)

Tom Waits' "My Piano has been drinking." (my all time favorite artist). Elvis Costello did a pretty good article for Vanity Fair back in 2000 called "500 albums that everyone should own." Check it out. It will make you a true audiophile (as it turns out I own 392 of them).

Social D, Pennywise, Lagwagon, Bad Religion, Strung Out, NOFX, Samiam, Metallica(old albums only), Motley Crue, Scorpions, AC/DC are all on my playlist as far as punk and old metal. But when I'm enjoying a stogie I go for more relaxing music.

E - Have you ever listened to Samiam? They've made about 6 albums and have an incredible sound and great vocals that I know you'd like, check out their CD "Clumsy". You won't be dissapointed, and Jreddoch is right about Social Distortion!!

Chris, I have heard of them except for Samiam and Strung Out...I downloaded some Social Distortion yesterday from JR's suggestion, but it's not hard core. I like it, but it's not my first choice of flavors...a little too Texas punk for me...too bubble gum.

Now, Tool and Sevendust and Chevelle are more of my flavor. LOVE Sevendust. Anyone heard of Scars of Life?

Gonna go check out Adroomi's suggestion too...thank you!

Of course my mainstays are AC/DC, Metallica, most of the 80's glam rock bands like Motley Crue, Poison, etc...hey, we all regress to our teenage music, don't we? Forever etched in our minds of where we were and what we were doing...

Yesterday I popped Motley Crue in the car, is there a better song intro than Kickstart My Heart??? I think not!! You're dead if that song doesn't get your blood moving!

I think the last Crue concert 2 yrs ago that I went to, Vince opened with that song...Scorpions opened for them if you can believe that...I had to be pulled outta the mosh pit front and center...once I found my top, it was back in there for me! Rock n Roll baby!
