Tissue wrapped?

Any special significance to the tissue wrapping on some cigars, some El Rey Del Mundo's for example. Just looks weird and I'm temped to unrap them before putting them to bed in the humdior like I do with cellophane wrapped smokes. I guess I like my primo cigars, like primo women, in the nude. Any downside to undressing them (cigars, not women)?

A dead horse, you say? Well, excuuuuse me. Maybe I don't pop in here often enough. Still, I don't see any evidence of my topic being beat to death.

Perhaps you could either be a little nicer, jazzman--or keep it zipped.

Just be careful when you zip.
Did that just once...
As for the tissue wrapper, I think it makes the cigar look like a freakin tampon. It's embarrassing to carry one in purse...

I think the tissue is cheaper for them to use than the plastic. I take it off before putting mine to bed.

You only zipped yours once tailgater..?? liar!...

Smoke them when you have a cold.

Seriously, I don't know the reason(if there is one) but Mr. Mean is correct, those ERDMs are mighty tasty. A favorite of mine for years now.

Ahh, ELDM "double maduro", a fine smoke. I leave the tissue on in my humidore. I think it protects the outside wrapper (probably not, but thats my perogative)

They put the tissue on for visual effect only (and it protects the wrapper. I leave it on so that it protects the wrapper when I am rumaging.

I was a long-time, die-hard "cello-off" guy until sometime last year when I was given a box of cigars by a friend who'd had them in his humidor since 1996 ... the cello was amber with age and the cigars a touch of pure heaven ... it made me re-examine the whole concept behind the use of cello and the reasons to remove it before cigars are put in your humidor ...

Tissue, on the other hand, doesn't serve as a moisture barrier at all and serves only to protect against damage ... I've alway left it on ERDMs or any other cigar I've ever got which was wrapped in tissue ...

Well, let me see...Tissue on tissue off? Cello on cello off! This is a question that will never be answered to everybody's satisfaction! If the cello is so damn important, why do so many great cigars come in a cedar box, with no cello to begin with? As for tissue, I cannot even imagine one good reason for it being on the cigar! Sure, it makes it look like a tampon, but then what if someone came up with the idea of wrapping them in fiberglass or something like that--new argument!
In the meantime, I am going to smoke my cigars without the cello on them or the tissue on them and ponder other meaningful questions such as "Why do they call a 4 lane cement highway a greenbelt"? Or explain "Giant Shrimp to me"!

Sammy, while we're on the subject ... don't you think it's strange that if you crate something up and put it on a truck, it's a "shipment", but on a ship it's called "cargo" ??
