Hope you guys can help.

What cause a cigars wrapper to start cracking once you've lit it.

I've wondered if the cigars are over humidified, but cigars coming out of the same humidor will smoke just fine. The humidity in this humidor is in the low 60s.

Should I be setting the cigars out side the humidor before smoking say 1/2- 1 hour.

Any Ideas on what causes this or how to avoid it are appreciated.

What is your humidity reading in your humi????
Is it a recent delivery??? If so, they may not have stabalized to your humidors conditions yet. Many cigars are shipped wet, so they do not dry out during shipping. If they were shipped at say 72%, and you put them in a humidor at 65%, then the wrapper would dry faster than the filler leaves do. Until lighting this is OK, but if you light it, the moist inner leaves will expand, as the heat hits them but the dryer wrapper, is contracted due to drying conditions, and the cigar will explode.

yup^ and a rapid temp change too much more in the summer like going from a nice cool humi inside to and outside smoking area that is hot.

Humidity is usally the case.... but there are some makers that have had issues ...

CAO has been having issues(per a wholesaler I know) i think he said one per 20 to 40 smokes. I have a Cx2 expand so fast it was not smokable.....

gar,

I saw this happen to a couple friends of mine who I had given a couple of GURKHA Reserve Robustos to last summer. Humidity & temp were fine in my office, where my humidor was. They sparked em up outside about 2-3 hours later in very low humidity & 100+ temp, plus they smoked em like they were cigarettes (constant draws & ash flicking).

Could have been any one or all the above factors.

Did you smoke this cigar out side in the cold? And does it have a thin wrapper? This could be a cause.

CX2 problem could have been because of the Cameroon. I'm a big Cameroon fan but try to smoke less of them during the winter months because of it being so dry out. The Cameroon wrapper is one of if not the most delicate wrappers out there.
