For that matter CI has that huge Havana Footlocker. I've got smaller humi's I'd like to get rid of and try one of these cabinet size units instead.

I was talking to my neighbor the other day about this subject. I like to buy old solid walnut or oak humidors and refurb them. Damn they come out nice! I was griping about the veneer and cheap laquer finishes on the new cheaper humidors. He says: "But do they keep your smokes fresh"? Cheap ****! But he is right. If you want a decent utiitarian object, buy whatever is priced low. If you want craftsmanship or an heirloom, you have to pay. Or spend some time and sweat. I like the good stuff. A coolerdor works great! But it's no showpiece.

Coug, I've been thinking about that one also. I suppose you've also seen the "seconds" version- a little cheaper.

X, I agree with you on the subject of humidors! It is a lot more classy to open a nice humidor and extract a cigar from within than to pop a coolador! I just wish I had a full coolador right now, I would not complain!

However, humidors are nice conversation pieces and as long as they perform the way you want them to (keep cigars in great condition) why not have a nice looking one?

The various 'burg humidors look pretty nice. Keep in mind that a mahogany or walnut "finish" doesn't mean that it is made out of that wood. It's a veneer. A thin laminate over a cheaper base wood. Over time it may not perform like a solid hardwood box.

I picked up the Havana Footlocker humidor here on CB at a great price. It's a nice box -- has two stacked trays for singles and plenty of room underneath for several boxes. Holds humidity well, and even comes with a digital hygrometer.
