Hello all. I am rapidly being consumed by this new hobby, cigars. I just got my first humidor and am quickly stocking it thanks to cbid. In my limited tastings, am leaning towards the maduros. I have been reading all of your posts and I have found them to be quite helpful. Thanks for all the info. This seems like a great place to spend some time. I live in Sacramento, Ca. Thanks again.

Hi Steve, I'm new to cigars myself. I'm hoping I don't go broke bidding here! I've decided I must go cold turkey for a few weeks.
I also find myself drawn to the maduros. I particularly like the Punch Rothchilds.
Welcome.

Some unsolicited advice. Do your homework before placing a bid. What seems like a good deal may not be once you taste it. I wish I'd have read the BBs when I first started bidding here. I want to bang my head against the wall when I think of the $ I've wasted on cigars like Dark Sharks, Fidalgos, Don Whatever. Enjoy your new hobby, I mean consuming obsession.

Thanks for the advice. I have been selective on my cbid purchases. I have been using the knowledge I've gained here on what's good and not so good. I have also been doing the research on prices and not paying too much!! Thanks again everyone for all the help.

This board has been a great to me as well. You will find lots of good advice and a few good jokes as well. You will quickly learn that opinions very greatly from person to person however. I think that these guys are to honest to bs you.

I happen to love Don Tomas. I am especially fond of the Corojo's. Very smooth and a little punch added in. The Don tomas candela's are very unique and super mellow.

We got to let love rule.........Leon

keep in mind that what you think is your favorite will change rapidly as your tastes develop. the more you smoke, the faster it will change..generally from milder to stronger gars. so do yourself a favor and don't buy large quantities of anything..no boxes, just 5 packs and samplers. otherwise, you will find yourself spending a lot of time on the trading board trying to get rid of what were once favorites just a short time before

What Danny and JR said ... in capital letters

Some of the very first advise I ever got was also some of the best ... it sounds easier than it actually is

Try a lot of different cigars ... remember what you like (and what you don't) ... smoke what you like

Hi Steve, welcome and glad to hear you are enjoying your new hobby. Agreed with the above comments. Note the comments posted, and enjoy some of the cigars posted. There are a lot of diamonds in the rough, and trying most of them is a good idea...5 packs are a good example. Stay away from some which many of us here agree are poor smokes, but on the other hand, take some chances on a few, e.g. One man's meat is another man's poison. I too enjoy many different smokes and still trying many today. I do have my favorites. Email me and I'll send you a small 3 pack of some of my fav's if you like. Welcome!

Boy Danny, you hit it right on the head. when I first started I liked the Flor de los Reyes Robustos. They were my "favorite"....till I had a Padron Churchill. Then a CAO Extreme, etc.
Now smoking one of those robustos is like smoking air! Like going from a Camel Cigarette to a Carlton!! I should not of bought a box!! Well, now I give them to friends who just want a cigar because I'm having one. Keep em in my pocket and when asked if I have an extra cigar...I hand them one and say "here, try one of these" Take Dannys advice and try 5 packs. I still do because there are to many good cigars to commit to just one. (Same applies to women!!) just kidding!!
