Has anyone else had a problem with UPS "claiming" to have made a shipment, only to find out that nothing ever arrived on your doorstep? This is the 3rd instance with me in the last year, 2nd involving CB orders. (Yes, I left a message asking to start a trace, but knowing the way these drivers work, they're just gonna drive aimlessly and take an extended lunch... probably enjoying one of my Cupidos... and claim to have traced the package.)

Sorry, but I tend to get pissed when $120 bucks magically disappears. (Not blaming the CB folks at all, BTW... they were extremely cool with me the last time this happened. Also, the lady I talked to mentioned that this was far from a rare occurance, if memory serves correct.)

I assume that CBid will file a claim with UPS and replace the missing items. If no one signed for the package, UPS has no way to prove it was delivered.

Good question Soulwound..

I actually manage the shipment of hundreds of UPS packages a day at work..

It really depends on the shipper's way they deal with this situation..

I didnt try to check Cbids policy on this issue but I can tell you one way to circumvent this issue is to have your packages sent "adult signature required". This way an adult obviously must sign for your package and it cannot be left on your doorstep. How you get this done at Cbid I have no idea.. They must ship this way to me in MI because of tobacco laws here.. I have my winnings shipped to my work anyway..

My warehouse people would never dare messing with my smokes.. I get alerted the moment they arrive..

I suggest that Cbid label the boxes with "infectious samples enclosed"...

They are infectious just like the old Pringles ad...can't eat just one...well you can't smoke just one either!

Maybe the boxes will stay put on the porch...good luck SW!

I hate dealing with UPS...They deliver here btwn 10AM and 2PM, not optimal times since I work midnights and unfortunately for some reason have to sign for every package they deliver...My US Postal Service postwoman (??) is the greatest...She asked me for my consent to leave my received packages at my door if a signature isn't needed instead of her filling out those cards for redelivery for the next day or (like UPS) I have to drive to the UPS facility (a lonnng way away) to pick up the package!...!@#$?!$...She knows I work midnights so she leaves the packages at the front door and hits the doorbell ONCE!..Works perfectly!

in future you can requests all your cigars are shipped by priority mail by the post office, all mine are shipped that way and insured. I have never had problems with UPS delivering, I have had problems with them beating the hell out of boxes. I get damaged books delivered often, but in my knowledge everything shipped by UPS is insured so I am always covered. Now lately I have had problems with someone(s) at the post office stealing books, as twice they opened up a box and replaced the books with shop manuals or magazines, last week a box was delivered that some thug at the post office opened and put broken glass in and old screws and filth, like they dumped the vacuum cleaner bag's contents in the box. So it can go bad with about anyone, but at least with cigars priority mail works for me. A friend told me that a few years ago he shipped some books to his new address and it was lost so he went to the post office to inquire, and he actually saw two employees in the back dividing up his books amongst themselves.

Ups has its share of thieves. I can tell you this from personal experience. I'm not saying yor packages were stolen by a UPS guy. But they don't do extensive backgrounds on their delivery guys.

I know of one instance where a kid watched the ups man sit in his drive way and open up his package, remove the contents and then deliver an empty package. Luckily UPS almost always prosecutes. You should definetly report these missing items to a supervisor at the warehouse. You might not be the only one getting ripped off by this guy.

I wouldn't be so pre-occupied with the UPS driver. I would try to focus my investigation on your neighbors instead. Try leaving a CBid box full of explosives on your front porch. A few days later you may notice your neighbor is missing some fingers or limbs. Chances are, he's the culprit. Smile, wave, and offer him a cigar. Enjoy his suffering. He got what he deserved!!

It's the delivery guy, not UPS in general. Mine always come (NH) on time and in good shape.

The reason I'm ruling out my neighbors is that mainly I've had packages delivered many times by USPS, Fed-Ex, etc... that have been on my porch waiting for me when I got home from work. Only UPS has been a thorn in my side.

Trish from Customer Service called and informed me that the trace is on, which will take 8 days (8 days of the UPS guy napping and rummaging through packages). Part of this shipment was to be a birthday gift for an uncle of mine. I can feel the replacement shipment coming on (Fed-Ex all the way), but with the 'similar product if original no longer available' cause kicking in. So I'll be stuck with boxes of Lone Wolves, Tamborils, Wall Streets, and 5-packs of 'Lars Tetens Knockoffs' and 'La Estralla Cubanas'.

Grrr.
