Everyone should know that airline security will not allow jet flame lighters to be carried on flights, only in checked baggage, also includes cutters.

I have carried them through a few times, telling them it is a cigar lighter. They always take a close look at it though.

Inconsistency is the only consistent thing about the entire airline security issue ... one inspector goes ape sh*t over a cigar cutter, another says ho-hum ... one inspector confiscated my wife's nail clipper, but my sister-in-law went through a diffeent gate at the same airport with a big nail file in her purse ...

I took a jar humidor in my carry-on when I went on vacation in August ... one of those with a clamp-on lid ... whatever the guy saw on the x-ray, I ended up having to remove my shoes and be very thoroughly "wanded" before I could board ... I know it was the humi that caused the problem too, because I had to open my bag and take the lid off so they could see the whole damn thing ... what one inspector let you pass with last time, another might not let pass on the way home ...

bottom line is that if you want to count on keeping them, lighters and cutters should be put into your check in luggage where there's no problem ... and what the hell, you won't be using them on the plane anyway.

I do not fly much, however this spring I may be flying a few time, to Florida and to Baltimore. I too was concerned regarding cutters and lighters including the fact that my travel humidor is a metal one. I just want as little hassel as possible. So since I like a punch usually, I will punch my cigars before I leave. In regards to a lighter, when I go to Florida I will place it into my check-in bags. For Baltimore I will most likely only have only a carry-on, so I will be asked to open the metal humidor and as far as a lighter goes I will have to light-up with what can I get while I am there. Unless there are any suggestions.

On the six o'clock news last night, it was said all liberals boarding a Philadelphia to California flight were rounded up and sent to a holding camp because they had pointy heads. JonR

Airline security will also steal your Zippo lighters from checked baggage even though they do not fit the discription of banned lighters (Plastic butane)
They stole mine in New Orleans in January and refuse to return my calls
I hope he(the well trained security professional)is at least lighiting up cigars and not blunts or crack pipes with it now
