Ed Schultz gets one-week unpaid suspension for ‘right-wing slut’ remark

Jeff Poor - The Daily Caller – Wed May 25, 7:12 pm ET
Finally the other shoe dropped on the Ed Schultz controversy on Wednesday.
In a release from MSNBC management, the network announced it would suspend Schultz for one week without pay for remarks he made on his Tuesday radio show calling conservative talker Laura Ingraham a “right-wing slut.” However, Schultz will be permitted to address the remarks on his Wednesday television show with the suspension beginning immediately afterwards:
“MSNBC management met with Ed Schultz this afternoon and accepted his offer to take one week of unpaid leave for the remarks he made yesterday on his radio program. Ed will address these remarks on his show tonight, and immediately following begin his leave. Remarks of this nature are unacceptable and will not be tolerated,” the statement reads.
On his Tuesday radio program, Schultz took a shot at conservative talk show host Laura Ingraham for her criticism of President Barack Obama’s trip to Ireland, where he enjoyed a Guinness, while the Midwestern United States was being hit by severe weather.
“And what do the Republicans thinking about?” Schultz said. “They’re not thinking about their next-door neighbor. They’re just thinking about how much this is going to cost. President Obama is going to be visiting Joplin, Mo., on Sunday but you know what they’re talking about, like this right-wing slut, what’s her name?, Laura Ingraham? Yeah, she’s a talk slut. You see, she was, back in the day, praising President Reagan when he was drinking a beer overseas. But now that Obama’s doing it, they’re working him over.”

A watchdog group called for the suspension of Schultz earlier in the day. However, Ingraham dismissed Schultz’s comments in a Facebook posting earlier in the day.

Really Rick? Course you wing that word around loosely with your professed hate of women. Laura is one of the more professional of all the radio talkers, though I'm not catholic.

I think Schults should get f****d in his C younextuesday by Rosie wearing a strap on.

How sad when a person such as Ed Schultz can't find a more appropriate word to express his disdain for a particular female.

The guy makes his living through the words he says, and yet he had to resort to the same gutteral crap that we'd expect to hear from those either less educated or otherwise not bound by corporate responsibility.

He deserves to be punished financially, but he'll not likely receive nearly as much backlash as he should.

People will say "he shouldn't have used that word". But the media won't label him as sexist.

The same can't be said if the right were to allude to anything associated with race.
I'm not talking about dropping a full fledged N-bomb. I mean something as benign as say "Obama is the food stamp president".
Statements like that, even when taken in context with facts to back it up, are immediately labeled as racist.

Ed Schultz is a buffoon. He deserves a long suspension.
And he may even be sexist. But that lone statement doesn't prove it.
I hope the left take note and use the same discretion in their future attempts to label.

But I doubt it.

I wish there were left wing sluts.

Then we could have talk show where the left wing sluts are arguing with the right wing sluts and a slap fight breaks out and clothing starts getting ripped off. Half naked women screaming "WATER BOARDING IS NOT TORTURE!" or "CLINTON HAD A BUDGET SURPLUS!"

Dare to dream!

(Instead we just have FuzzNJ)

I don't know what the big deal is. This is what the guy thinks. This is what the people who listen to Ed want to hear. Most of those listeners agree with him.

Schultz was being honest in his sentiments.

He's a union thug. This is how they act. This is how they talk. How is what he said any less offensive than most of the stuff he espouses on a daily basis? He believes in federally sanctioned theft. He thinks that any black man not affiliated with the Democrat party is an Uncle Tom. He thinks that people who work hard and become wealthy are evil (unless its him). He also uses the Constitution like an a**-rag.

How is any of this less offensive? Because he chooses his words carefully?

The very things this man believes are profoundly offensive to people who believe in things like Liberty, and Justice. He wants to crap all over what the Founding Fathers created in this nation, and replace it with another socialist bureaucracy that - like all of the others - will fail miserably.

But because he called Ingram a sl*t, he's now officially "offensive?"

Some people have a very odd sense of outrage.

Ed Schultz should not be disciplined in any way.

Because, as we all know...when you're a liberal, it's different.

Here's the difference,,
Hannity and Rush have huge audiences and make their affiliates lots of $$$.

Schultz is a bombastic moron that works for MSNBC.

That's an interesting take on the situation. The right-wing talkers are free to say anything and the left-wing talkers are held to a higher standard because they make more money for 'the man'.

I've always suspected, but no one has ever said it out loud.

Hilarious. You've been around a long time. You must remember the Abner Louima incident. To this day he says Sharpton should apologize for his involvement in the Brawley debacle, but not once has he apologized to Louima for what he did to him. He had on the accused cop's father regularly to defend the cop and spread rumors about Louima, trying to pollute the jury pool, saying he was gay and got the injuries from rough gay sex. Had 'friends' of the cop on all in an effort to make the victim seem like the scum of the earth. When the a-hole cop confessed, not a peep, like it never even happened.

He's a dimwit who contradicts himself constantly and the kind of person if presented with a moral or ethical question would not and could not answer if not presented with the political opinions of the person in the scenario presented. The man's only moral guide is whether or not that person is a Republican, not conservative or liberal, but Republican. He's a dumb ass regurgitator of talking points and self promoting whore.

Some people are more free then others then.

That's the conservative view.

No wonder they are so angry at 'limousine liberals'.

They can buy and sell you and they still disagree with you and because of their wealth they are 'better' and 'more powerful' than you.

So if I have more money than you, no matter how I get it, I'm king over you.

Good to know.

This poll is already bunk. The last choice can't be answered because Fuzz already is the maid and no one would evenknow if Sargeant Shultz was on or off the air anyway. NEXT!!!

In 2005 Beck called Cindy Sheehan a 'tragedy slut'. No outrage, no suspension from CNN or his radio show, nothing.

He should have used "tragedy whore". But I digest, as Peter Griffin would say.

I'm sure Dead Schultz getting suspended really PO'd his 6 viewers.
