Tea Party Nation, the ones who held the tea party convention where Palin was the keynote speaker, has a solution to help the economy. They want every small business owner to take this pledge:

"I, an American small business owner, part of the class that produces the vast majority of real, wealth producing jobs in this country, hereby resolve that I will not hire a single person until this war against business and my country is stopped."

"I hereby declare that my job creation potential is now ceased."

"I'm on strike!"

Another difference between the OWS'rs and the teabaggers. One group is looking for solutions, the other looking to make things worse.

Although they may not hire anyone there was no mention of firing or laying off, so these jobs would be under the administrations mythical saved or mantained category. Still doing better than the fleabags then. But of course on group can take a stand and it is the greatest movement of all time and another's attempt at what?

The pledge has absolutely no teeth because the action it calls for has already happened.

So the method they are using, you know, trying to work outside the system and put pressure on the 'powers that be' by perhaps effecting the unemployment rate through this action, is ok in this case but not when those taking the action have different goals than you do, if only slightly different?

Don't answer because it's obvious.

Is it really obvious?

If employers want to hire more people and create additional jobs, that is their business and prerogative.

Like I said, the pledge has no teeth. It is describing what has already happened from small businesses right on up to the largest corporations.

At least I know he's to classy a guy to use any of this to further divide the country for his benefit.

I wonder if FuzzNJ posted this from his smartphone while at the Occupy Wall Street rally.

No one is questioning their 'prerogative' or right to hire or not hire, not at all. It certainly is their right. So this is just another attempt on your part to deflect and misrepresent etc. Or it could be, and I am beginning to think this is the real reason, you are just not as smart as I thought you were and you may actually think as illogically as you act on this board. I seriously thought at one point you were just playing a dumb guy on purpose just to play devil's advocate but you are doing WAY too good a job of it as of late.

It's the attitude that is behind such an idea from the people who market themselves as the 'real' Americans, the patriotic, the moral, the just the backbone, etc and the 'liberals' are horrible 'commies', dirty, anti-American, etc. that would come up with such an idea. An idea that is meant to hurt the economy to make a political point. Isn't that what they are accusing the OWS'rs of trying to do?

And you can sit there and justify it somehow. It's like there is a huge wild-fire and they are telling their 'people' to not help put it out unless they get their way. Real patriotic. These people have shown themselves, once again, to be nothing but a bunch of whining, anti-american juveniles whose 'principles' are only 'object to anything a Democratic person may want', regardless of how stupid or hypocritical it sounds.

How is not hiring hurting the economy? A business is there to make money, they hire when there product or service is needed, not to be a revenue stream for the government. The decision is theirs.

These are all great responses. Thanks.

By all means keep up the defense of these ideas while looking for the poor and middle class to pay more of their 'fair share' of taxes as you are in other threads while saying it's fine to freeze hiring even if they need more help. Please.

Saves me time having to type anything because you guys are just proving how out of touch and ignorant your arguments are. Anyone with half a brain who reads, but doesn't feel like joining in, can see it for what it is.

Keep up the great work.

I'm not justifying it. If the Tea Party is pushing that statement, I don't think it is the most brilliant thing they've ever come up. I also have no affiliation with the Tea Party and don't even plan to research whether they said this or not. Like I said, what the statement calls for already happened from small businesses right up to huge corporations.

Good for you shrimpmakesmecrazyboy. "Where searching" and still wanting solutions like getting the power back into the hands of the people a bit more. It's not that much to ask really. Maybe you prefer to be a serf, that's ok, your choice. You can work for me if you want. I have a gardener now, but make an offer and I'll see if it's better than what I have now. So do plenty of "conservatives". They both likely earned it by generally understanding when it is the right time(s) to take on the additional risk and expense of new employees.

The problem with your premise is that it's OK to compare OWS with the Tea Party.
The two have very little in common.

But to humor you, we can address the issue here.
This particular tea party subgroup has created a pledge that is based on spite. No other groups around the country have openly embraced this pledge. I am personally opposed to it.

But understand this:
If this pledge were instituted tomorrow, the Tea Party and their small businesses would still provide MORE jobs (albeit current ones) then the OWS.
And the two groups would create the same number of new ones.

So your point is?

Let me try to clear up your confusion. Probably won't work, but I'll try anyway. You connected nazis to the OWS'rs. I said 'YAY' the guilt by association game and brought in Duke as an example of how that game worked and could be applied to the teabaggers. You then accused me of playing the guilt by association game. Strange that.

The only comparison I was making between MLK and other movements that people respect now is that they also were 'illegal' and broke laws. So using the 'they break laws so therefore they are wrong' argument is bs since morality isn't judged by what is legal.

If anything I'm trying to help you make a logical and consistant argument.

I know the conversation can get a little complicated to keep track of so I hope that helps.
