Ok,
Veeps that finish a term of a deceased or a Pres that resigned and get re-elected have not been re-elected to a 2nd term,,,

And Incumbent Dems are not difficult to beat when running for a 2nd term.

Clinton is the only one since FDR. Republican incumbents have a MUCH better record of re-election.

Therefore, history tells us that Obama will likely lose...

If you don't get it now..

you're hopeless...

just out of curiosity, do you think Newt takes the nomination, as I do? That's the post we disrupted. That was Jack's post, Newt rising.

And therefore you would believe he is our next president?

I like Newt, always have. I believe he is the best equipped candidate to be President, including Obama.

Sadly, many Americans are ill informed and won't really pay attention until just before the election.

I honestly don't know who will be the Rep.nominee..

I didn't. If you want to, go ahead, but don't falsely attribute it to me.

I've always said we own all the candidates. I don't even need to hide that fact.

Like him or not. Is there anyone in this race that is remotely as qualified as Newt? I think he beats Obama after a couple of debates, especially if Obama doesn't want to debate him after a couple of embarrassing defeats. All they will have left is the personal attacks on Newt's character. This is where things could get ugly, given Newt's personal life history.

What character? Newt's an undisputed grade A douchebag. He's not only morally/personally corrupt. He's a professional douche whose latest accomplishment come to light is taking million plus $ bribes...er consulting fees... from Freddie Mac to influence the republican party to go easy on them.

Newt is the reincarnation of Warren G. Harding.

I think Newt would beat Obama in a series of debates. However, I don't think he has the ability to connect with people well and doesn't show well on TV. The other Republicans are going to go after him hard over the next few weeks. Didn't he resign or get censured way back over ethics charges and money from a book or postage?

Promoted from "grade A" to professional douche.

taking bribes or as you call them consulting fees...from Freddie Mac

and yet he has a great chance to win the nomination. what a pathetic showing by the GOP in a time of tremendous opportunity to make a real impact.

Know why they can't? Cuz they have a huge share of the blame too.

Fringe politics, both left and right, have forced people into camps they would never choose normally. When an "in" says they will vote against anything the other side proposes as a method to remove that party from office, that is when his/her constituents need to realize that putting the party ahead of the country has brought us to this point.

Obstructionists need to go, not all cons nor all libs.

Vote against dogma.

Jon Huntsman gave the best showing and made the most sense. And he didn’t resort to the standard “here is why you should be afraid” tactics.
This explains way the republicans like him the least.

How the hell did Newt go from the bottom of the polls to the top in a matter of days?

I think I may need to borrow Rick's tinfoil hat.
