Trump: Romney 'doesn't get the traction' in race

WASHINGTON (AP) — Real estate giant Donald Trump said Monday that former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney "doesn't get the traction" he needs to nail down the Republican presidential nomination.

Trump, who will moderate a GOP candidate debate on Dec. 27, said Romney struggles to stay in front, saying "I don't know what it is." In an interview on NBC's "Today" show, Trump defended Romney against assertions by critics that he has flip-flopped on issues like immigration, abortion and health care. Trump said "we all change our minds on things."

Only former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has accepted an invitation to the December debate in Des Moines.

In the interview, Trump also labeled Rep. Ron Paul and former ambassador Jon Huntsman as "joke candidates," and defended his plan to moderate the face-off, which will take place as the Iowa caucuses draw near.

Trump said that "a lot of Republicans, top Republicans, asked me to do the debate." And he also said that if he isn't satisfied the GOP is putting up a viable candidate against President Barack Obama, "I would certainly think about running as an independent."




So, he's about to moderate a debate and then begins expressing his own opinions about candidates and threatens to run again- as an Independant. Now, if that isn't "unbiased neutrality" what is?

All the debates are a joke. What is the difference when you have your alphabet news doing one and their only mission is to trip someone up for a soundbite.
None have been serious so why think this will be any different.

I was sure he started penniless and through sheer effort amassed a fortune. Don't tell me his dad also had considerable RE holdings in New York too.

People might figure out that his dad may have been worth more than The Donald was/is.

And, why do people thing he is the master-businessman to go to for national/international economic advice and jobs- given the number of properties he's lost and bankruptcies* he has filed?










(I don't fault him for taking advantage of "the system".)

Maybe. Maybe not. But, did they express bias? Did any of the moderators threaten to run against any of the candidates?
Got any concrete examples of behaviour anything at all like Trump's?

I was not aware of how the Donald came about his fortune, and I don't really care. I was just pointing out that he may be an idiot, but he can afford to be. Whistle

lots of people think Romney actually created jobs in his business career too, just cuz he made zillions. His dad did well too.

I love the smell of class envy first thing in the morning.

He may be abrasive at times but I'd vote for him in a country minute. Can't be worse at negotiating than the current crop of one world bureaucrats.
