Has any US President ever been as consistent as Obama when it comes to dividing the nation?

I mean, if he's not taking aim at the "wealthy", he's slamming the republicans.

He uses the words "them" to describe other Americans more than any president I can remember.

And I'm not espousing the right-leaning Foxnews viewpoint here.
This is an observation from all sources.
You're as likely to here him denegrating the republicans on MSNBC as you are anywhere else.

It's no secret that I disagree with his politics. That's not unique.
But to watch him systematically divide the country with an "us vs them" mentality??

Bush was vilified for his "you're either with us or against us" message (please note, he never uttered these words specifically, but the message was similar).

Why, then, does Obama get a pass for using the same rhetoric? Especially since it's actually WORSE because he's pitting Americans against each other.
By economic class.
By political affiliation.
And by default, by color.

Four more years?
WTF are the left thinking?

The other interesting question is, have we been permanently divided along ethnic/socio-economic lines and will a caucasian ever be elected to office when his racial demographic is the minority?

I don't think arguing the tax codes is really class warfare, I think it's pure politics. I want my people represented even if it is at the expense of yours.

Too bad in my case my people means semiretarded obese midgets. But hey wheel and I need to stick together.

Please.
You've been pelted with class warfare from Obama and his cronies for so long that you now fail to even recognize it.

The term 99% should be copyrighted by Obama.

Honestly though, I only hit the hightlights.
Just listen to a speech by Obama. ANY speech.
He talks about the conservatives like they're an enemy.
I understand this type of talk during an election. But he's done it for 3+ years now and he's not on a campaign trail just yet.
And when people like you simply accept it as "pure politics" then he's done his job.

W in Sept 2001 speech to Congress.

"Either you are with us or you are with the terrorists."

http://edition.cnn.com/2001/US/09/20/gen.bush.transcript/

And the left is thinking Obama is WAY smarter, stronger and better for the country than any of the Republican clowns.

HA! What a short memory you have. You don't remember the previous administration and their supporters saying 'liberals' support and encourage terrorism? Honestly though, that's just a highlight. Your entire premise is right wing media based and bullsh!t.

So when Dubya spoke about "them", it was the terrorists.
When Obama speaks about "them", it's the rich and/or conservative.

So remind me, who is the smart one again?

The talk back then about "liberals supporting terrorists" was in response to specific examples whenever they occurred.
It was not a mantra that was repeated by the administration.

Don't confuse Rush Limbaugh and his ilk with the white house.

My premise stands.
Obama, unlike any of his contemporarys, is simply unable to speak for over 10 minutes without vilifying the wealthy or the republicans.

During a campaign this is acceptable behavior.
But throughout an entire term?
If you agree with Obama that's fine. But if you refuse to accept this as fact then you're only kidding yourself.

As for media based? I've not heard anyone from the media make the points that I've made.

Certainly the smart one isn't you if you think equating your political opponants to terrorists is fine and dandy but saying Obama calling his political opponants wrong on the issues and will work to stop them is wrong.

Yes, the Alphabet Soup game. Watch American Idol and catch up on what Snooki and Paris wear while you pay 4.60 at the pump.

Taking one side is a dangerous game that's killing America.

Both sides are equally guilty of partisanship and denigrating the other side. To the point that it has set a house divided unto itself. Normally, I could give a ****e if congress does nothing but we have some real issues...BIPARTISAN issues..that need to addressed. They all need to be led away in shackles and tried for treason against the United States, including the President and all those running against him.

You respond to my posts without putting them into the perspective that they were intended (ie: a retort to your prior comments).

Here's the deal, plain and simple:
Obama himself, along with his entire administration, have repeatedly and continually referred to the republicans as the enemy. This has been nonstop since the day he took office. He has also adopted an unwritten policy to vilify the wealthy, through words and other means (for instance, siding with the occupy movement mere months after slamming the tea party).

Bush, nor anyone that I can remember prior to him, never did this except maybe during a campaign speech here and there. His "with us or against us" mantra was not aimed at democrats. He may have p*ssed off few liberal countries with that remark, but he wasn't trying to divide the country by political leaning, by class, or by race.

I am not speaking about the media. My posts are entirely about the POTUS and his administration.

And don't bother with the "oh yeah? well the GOP is evil too".
This may be true, but it has nothing to do with the subject at hand.
Obama is purposely creating a divide virtually every time he speaks.

Your blustery outrage is freakin' hilarious. Conservatives playing the 'victim' card constantly is funny too. Look, Obama's being mean and repressing us. If you seriously think Obama is purposely trying to hurt the country, but the outrageous insults and criticisms of the left are all true and non-political, there really is no help for someone so biased. Be careful, we evil liberals will cast an evil spell on you and let Satan take over America for Islam.

That's a fun and predictable response.
The fact that it has nothing to do with the conversation at hand is likely just do to the fact that Obama's message is indefensible outside a campaign.
I light of this, I guess I can't blame you for choosing this tactic.

Carry on.

This whole "class warfare" nonsense is a bunch of BS. It's all smoke and mirrors. By both sides.

"High tax rates in the upper income brackets allow politicians to win votes with class warfare rhetoric, painting their opponents as defenders of the rich. Meanwhile, the same politicians can win donations from the rich by creating tax loopholes that can keep the rich from actually paying those higher tax rates -- or perhaps any taxes at all. What is worse than class warfare is phony class warfare. Slippery talk about 'fairness' is at the heart of this fraud by politicians seeking to squander more of the nation's resources." --economist Thomas Sowell.

Once again the conversation is reduced to my party is better than yours. It's this kind of senseless Rah Rah additude that is going to bring America to its knees. This isn't pro sports folks. Your playing into the hands Of both parties. As long as your fighting they win. If we could ever agree they would be is serious trouble. And they would have to actually do the job instead of stealing from us at e very turn. But that's not going to happen so long as you drink the Koll Aid...

When you can't defend, deflect deflect deflect.

Obama doesn't even WANT to be the president for those who are conservative.
He repeatedly calls the republicans "them".
He has tried repeatedly to divide the country.
But instead of discussing this on the thread that was designated for such discussion, you resort to name calling.

Bravo.
You're nothing, if not consistent.

lol. Defend? I have already stated my opinion, no need to keep repeating it like you are.

And name calling? Where? When I called you ridiculous? Oh get me my fainting couch, I'm getting the vapors.

Listen. Your inability to see that 'your side' is guilty of the very same thing you are outraged about is ridiculous. That is my position, nothing to defend or continue arguing about. Until you are capable of taking down the blinders of partisan bias, there is nothing to talk about.

You keep saying that my side is guilty of the same.
But they are not.
Hell, that's the premise of my initial post.
This president, BHO, is the ONLY one in my adult life that has resorted to these tactics (outside of the aforementioned campaign trail).
Your example of Bush's "with us or against us" has already been dismissed since his target audience (those against us) were not the American taxpayers, nor the democratic members of congress. This is not a minor difference.

You're tenacious. I'll give you that.
But it grows tiresome when you ignore the specifics.

And maybe you can find one or two examples. It proves nothing when compared to the CONSTANT barrage spewed forth by Obama. He is well into his third year, and virtually every one of his speeches point fingers and divide the country. And maybe you agree with him. Fine. But it doesn't change the truth in my first post.

Small town 'real' American values. Liberal 'Elites'. Ivory tower liberals. Educated are brainwashed, we are the 'real' Americans. The liberals 'hate' 'flyover' country. Liberals are Communist/Terrorists/Socialists/pussi$s/weak. /etc. . . Don't know how you missed it, but that's been going on for as long as I can remember.
