I think you grossly mischaracterized the medical issue of who should be getting heart transplants. The "lefties" as you have labeled them are those who believe that transplants should go to those with the best chance of success and a long life. That's not a political issue. It is a discussion of medical ethics and societal values. That's all.

Have you seen some of the post on some of these blogs, those dominated by hardcore leftist ? I think if you did then you may see where I am coming from, nothing about ethics, just pure hate for this guy. These are the same people who claim we need more civility, just not from them.

It wasnt really a transplant. He needed a fresh human heart to consume for one of his Lizard people rituals. The transplant story was just a cover.

I really don't care for him at all as a politician. I don't care for him as a person either. But, as a fellow human and former VP- I wish him well.

At 71? Life expectancy for men is 75 even for non heart transplant patients.

And Crosby was 54 when he got his liver, not the same age.

A 71 year old man has a life expectancy of 13 years.

the number 13 seems to follow cheney. but I would guess the life expectancy of a 71 year old just recieving a heart transplant is likely less than 13 but greater than that of his next hunting partner so it all comes out in the wash. plus socio economic status skews averages

It is simple to find a legitimate, general life expectancy table anywhere. But, I do know of an Epidemiologist who could take EVERYTHING into consideration and opine with precision. Thing is, he is very expensive...

The contrast between these two should be abundantly clear:
