Cigar Bands from the past-Great Memories. Sometimes I put little notes inside for really special occasions.
Any of you do things corny like this? Mag

I do the same kind of thing. I save the bands from every cigar I smoke, and whoever is with me. I keep them in an old cigar box. I can just look at each band and remember good times.

So you're not corny--or if you are, we are corny together!

In my case, the accessory drawers in my large humidor and a trinket box that is somewhat bigger than a 50ct humidor are absolutely STUFFED with bands ... I've used some for a couple of "projects" such as creating some custom ashtrays, but by and large have absolutely no idea what I'll ever do with these bands or even why I'm keeping them ... oh, did I mention that here at work, I also have a small box full of bands from lunchtime cigars ? ...

It must be some form of sickness

I put them in a large jar in the smoking room.
Well, the ones that don't get shredded in the laundry that is. Clark

Husk, as a rule never launder your cigars. You can launder drug money, mafia money, and even on occasion dirty shirts, but never your gars. That dreaded spin cycle will reck havoc.

If you must, put them through on the delicate cycle.

Ya know, I was wondering the same thing...just yesterday, I was *TRYING* to organize my office.

I was looking at the cigar boxes that a few of you guys sent me recently, stacking and restacking them...I put Post-It notes in each one to remember who sent it so I hopefully will remember to post a pic of the finished purse...eventually.

Then I went on to play with the sticks in my humi...do you all organize them (I know you do) by size, brand, wrapper, etc...? I sorta did my by best to better. Well, I DO still have a Big Butt (hehehe!), but THAT one really doesn't count!

Then I gathered up the bands that I had tossed on the shelf...and thought, hmmmm, maybe I should be writing on the inside of the band some sort of description of how I enjoyed it, or any other special info. I do this with wine corks and have a great big basket of them. Someday, I'll make some type of craft item out of them too.

But I was REALLY wondering (as I ramble on here), is how you keep YOUR bands...do you keep them intacked or open them up flat? And what, if any type of craft do you do with them? I have seen the nice ashtray that one of you crafted...any other ideas?

I also have a ton of fortunes from fortune cookies...Ah-so! An idea just sprang forth! I'll cover one of the boxes with the fortunes! You heard it hear first!

Why, oh, why, don't I proofread my posts?

Another thought re: bands, is too Modpodge or varnish or whatever them onto old book bindings...how cool would that be in your cigar area of the house?

Or maybe cover a lampshade or base...

Or how about the phone?

I you really have a lot of them and have a seperate room dedicated to your hobby...why not cover one side of the door?

You could put the around picture frames...

Man, I'm on a roll here...somebody stop me!

I do the same thing... keep thinking that someday I will start pasting them in a journal along with notes about the cigar and what I was doing when I smoked it... but as with a lot of things I never seem to get around to doing it although I bought a small journal to start...
