Has anyone tried the other maduro lines of Bucanero's? I've only smoke the Full Sail (thank you again, DrMaddVibe) and found it to be a wonderful smoke. Just wanted to know how the other maduro lines compare to the Full Sail before I place an order.
Thanks
Ed

The "Texas Star" is milder. My first "Full Sail" kicked me between the eyes. Next up to try is a Peg Leg. Oh, and an El Capitan too.

FYI
For those of you that don't receive CA magazine or for those of you that won't admit it -- here is their rating of Bucanero Full Sails in the latest issue;

Rating 86 A pressed maduro with a gorgeous, silky wrapper. It burns well, with a great, white ash. The flavor is charry, tart and acidic, and lacks depth.

oh, yeah .. right ... would this be the same CA that currently rates Lone Wolf an 88 and describes it as "A medium bodied cigar with a strong spicy character. There are hints of pepper, and a note of dried citrus on the palate. A bit of dryness overall, but a solid well-balanced cigar" ... THAT CA??

All I can say, is that I've smoked the Bucanero and it's a damn fine cigar ... I've also smoked a Lone Wolf and found it to be tasteless and vapid ... what would make me think CA was doing any more than shameless shilling with reviews so divergent from reality ??

SteveS, if you notice the cigars rated the highest in CA they all advertise there. Full sails due to arrive today!

I know ... they really ARE shills and without apparent shame ... anyone who knows anything is aware of it too ... I note with some interest that an old-line cigar store here in SF has quit displaying the CA ratings ... when I asked, they said people found them to be irrelevant ... guess that sums it up nicely, eh?

Lacks depth? LACKS DEPTH!?!?!?!

They got to be kidding. The Full Sail, El Capitan, and the Peg Leg all have complexities far beyond MOST domestic smokes out their today.

I agree their ratings are not relevant. However, I do like the magazine for their cigar related articles.

CA will rate whoever pays them well. I like the mag but I use the last dozen pages to get my fireplace started.

Had a complimentary full sail maduro at a tobacconist in Charlotte,NC and it was great, but one had better be prepared to enjoy a FULL flavored cigar. I am now a loyal fan.

I was in my local shop today and asked if she had ever thought of carrying the Bucanero line. She went behind the counter and pulled out a box full of samplers and gave me a humi pouch with a Texas Star and a Full Sail. She said that "guy" calls me almost every day! I told her to stop the calls all she had to do is carry the Full Sail and the Peg Leg, LOL.

They look identical unless you look at the foot. You can see a difference in the blend. I was told that they're both the same with diff. bands but fbcoach told me that the Texas Star sucked (he told Robert too) and the Full Sail is mmmmmmmmmmmm good. Coach said that Robert was going to reblend it because he didn't particularly care for it either. He said he was sort of forced into releasing it and that Texans would buy anything Texas related or that had a star on it LOL.

you got it, just let me know and i'll be there. I went about five - 5:15 and sat outside at the chess table. There were a few guys out there and I am glad I did not attempt to play chess. It would be ugly.

Texas Star and Full Sail do look the same without the bands, but they're definitely not the same cigar blend. The Full Sail is much stronger. I enjoyed the Texas Star and it didn't kick me upside the head like the Full Sail did. IMHO the Peg Leg is better than both - better flavor but without the Full Sail's strength. Now to try the El Capitan....

Bucanero Full Sails - Quite a punch! Who needs to spend $25 per stick on Cubans?

Whereas I agree that there are some XLNT smokes out there to rival the Cubans(Camacho Diploma,El Rico Habano,Full Sail etc) but the flavor profile of a good Cuban is unique. X

For those outside Texas, the Pegs are very similar to the Texas Star ...

Thanks Jazzman. I was basing my bid on another retailer. Almost overbid! Whew! CI has the best price I've seen.
