USAF TOOK NANCY 'S JET AWAY
(verified by Snopes)
The real reason that Nancy Pelosi is considering retiring is that they took her Jet away.
Ah, poor baby!
As a result of a Judicial Watch filing under the Freedom of Information Act, the USAF released documents detailing House Speaker Pelosi's use of United States Air Force aircraft between March 2009 and June 2010. The data are published in the Judicial Watch Verdict of December 2010, Volume 16, Issue 12.
Here are the main highlights revealed by the USAF. Keep in mind that all the data below relate to United States Air Force aircraft used by one woman over a sixteen month period.
Several of these flights included Ms. Pelosi's guests, such as grown children, grandchildren, various in-laws, friends and hangers-on. Over 95% of the trips were between the west coast and Washington , DC , for what you might call a commute between home and the office. READ it and WEEP!!
>Total trips: 85 over a 68 week period, or 1.25 average trips per week.
>Total mileage: 206,264 miles, or 2,427 average miles per trip.
>Total flying time: 428.6 hours, or an average of 5 hours per trip.
>Cost to the taxpayers: $2,100,744, or $27,715 per trip, or $1,285,162 per year!
>Cost of in flight food and alcohol: $101,429; $1,193 per trip; $62,051 per year.
On one junket to Baghdad, according to the Air Force report, she had the aircraft bar stocked with Johnny Walker Red Scotch, Grey Goose Vodka, E&J Brandy, Bailey's Irish Cream, Maker's Mark Whiskey, Courvoisier Cognac, Bacardi Rum, Jim Beam Whiskey, Beefeater Gin, Dewar's Scotch, Bombay Sapphire Gin, Jack Daniels Whiskey, Corona Beer and several varieties of wine. This was obviously a very important "gubment bidness" trip.
Evidence generally speaks for itself, and in Ms. Pelosi's case it speaks the language of abuse and (evidently) a serious drinking problem, for in a single year she and her spawn drank an amount in excess of the net income of the average employed American! When she said, "... If the stimulus doesn't pass, five hundred million people might lose their jobs...", I thought she was unintentionally revealing her ignorance. I'm now more inclined to think she was pickled.
Even though she can no longer abuse the USAF, she can either fly on her broom, or fly Southwest Airlines, where bags fly free.

I'd probably drink a lot to if I worked side by side with Harry Reid and Obama....but I'd stay sober if I worked side by side with Barney Frank.

Pelosi probably gets a little kink-kay after some Johnny Walker. Probably has quite a few frequent flyer points on the mile-high club. whip :shiver:

I could not care less about Pelosi but when I see the words "verified by snopes" I generally find it's so I won't check and will blindly pass along misinformation, I don't like to be part of that.

this snopes item is probably too long to read but I'm guessing it is related to the op.

The original post doesn't even exist on snopes. Since the very first line is a lie, it's safe to assume that every line after it is.

I dug up the referenced article in question. Of course there is zero mention of them taking her plane away, that was added by someone with a little "creative license".

Let's break this down a bit:
1 - Based on the other snopes article, it's clear that the speaker of the house is expected to NOT fly commercial because of Homeland security requirements post 9/11. You want to change that, fine, but it was in place before she entered office.

2 - 85 trips at 2.5k miles each equals 1.25 trips a week. (notice based on mileage the "trips" are one way)
That means she's going home LESS than I did when I was working on the road. A little more than every other week she travels home. OH NOES!!!! That also is not uncommon, and in the consulting world that is the minimum travel requirement.

3 - Family? Oh god, who cares? If she's gotta get a private plane that can make it cross country non-stop off the ground already, who cares if there are a couple people going with?

4 - She's made out to be a boozer because of a congressional delegation she led to the middle east had a bunch of booze on it? That sounds like a work trip, it doesn't say how many other congressmen were in this delegation (or their political affiliations).

Is flying politicians around a waste of money? yes. Is this something that is "different" about pelosi? no.

Right no commercial flight. But traditionally this large of a plane has not been used. Go do some more reading.

If they want free travel fine, they can fly in cargo planes like our soldiers or charter cheap private planes. Don't be a dolt just for the sake of maintaining contrarian status.

You mean as in, 'Congress cannot make a law that favors the establishment of one particular religion; that prohibits the free exercise of religion; or that restricts freedom of speech or of the press, or the right of the people to gather and engage in peaceful demonstrations and to petition the government for redress of their grievances.' ? Most of the other people in that position were on the East Coast. A plane that can make a non-stop flight east to west is usually a little larger. If you note the original snopes article, the requirement was with range, NOT size. It just so happens that they don't design so many planes to take very few people really long distances.

I want to say that it was some sort of security requirement, I believe this was requested by some sort of security group.

This plane thing is a non-issue and irritates me because it distracts people from actual waste.

You want waste? How many actual days was congress working this year? That's all of them, and that's doing crap for their paycheck.

You want waste, look at the estimated cost of the healthcare repeals (30 something of them) when congress is actually at work.

BOTH sides sit there and waste our time and money doing stupid sh%t, accomplishing nothing, and then people go around reposting partisan, inaccurate, misleading and frequently plain false complaints about some piddly little plane upgrade. That's not even walking around money.

You believe a statement that wasn't even in the document starting this thread, which in itself had statements added from the original document.

Let me guess, you're gonna copy and paste the above, add the "face down drunken" part and forward it to all your friends because you're sure that's what happened.

You're part of the problem, not part of the solution.

What a total crock of 5h!t.

Third in Line of Succession to the Presidency and a Speaker should be flying non-military?

Sorry, but any Speaker of The House's exact location while in transit needs to be known at all times in this crazy world we live in.

Look at all the senators and congressmen that get kidnapped!

It's an epidemic!

If it's so unsafe than the public shouldn't be allowed to fly commercial either. You don't think she would have security? Alot of stinger missles in the midwest? C'mon ...............

Here's a freaking novel idea...end the recesses and install/rent a secure VPN teleconference room.

The senators and congressmen get to stay in their districts meeting with their people.

They won't have to pay high real estate fees associated with living in DC

They'd have time to actually...I dunno...PASS A FREAKING BUDGET!

They wouldn't even have to be on a flight to begin with tying up military resources that should be used as private chauffeur services!
