I made my basement into a mens room. Complete with a Big Screen Tv and DTV to watch on it. But what I Would really like is to smoke my cigars as I watch the NFL or NBA. My wife will not allow this. I need to know do these air purifiers really work. I have one that plugs into my lighter in my car, this one doesn't seem to work. I am hesitant to get a large one. Could someone who has one please let me know that it works. Thanks for any feedback on this.

I have the same setup in my basement. I crack one of the windows (my basement is a walkout) and put a box fan backwards against it. This blows the air out of the room and sucks the smoke with it. It smells like smoke while I'm burning a gar, but shortly after, clears the room, and the rest of the house (upstairs) is always totally smoke free.

I sometimes smoke a cigar in a certain room against the wishes of my wife. It's a room she doesn't use and I ventilate with a fan in the window. We both understand that we each do things that annoy the other. It's a take it or leave scenerio. She hasn't left yet....but I haven't given up hope.

My basement is not a walkout but does have stairs that go outside. Up throw a door on the back porch. The basement also is not heated so in the winter time with door open it gets cold down there. I live in PA. There are no windows that open in the basement.

I have the large Csonka and it still smells like smoke while I am smoking in the finished basement. I move the Csonka to different levels of the house and by the time I get home from work the next day its done its job. I have a four level split house.

Something that really helps are what they call
"filter mates" air freshner pads that attach to the central air and furnace air filter. They come in different scents and I found them at Lowes for $3. They last about two weeks.

My wife is not a fan of the smell but these things seem to help.

Hey ropeman, here's what I would do: I'd handle the situation with grace and delicacy. I'd give her 24 hours notice before I threw her out.

The only problem with that is the smell stays in the house. Also , a 13 month old daughter. Has anyone tried burning those candfles they sell. I do not think they work well.

I have used the candle, nice Vanilla scent. You need an odor counteractant not a deodorizor. The only effective odor eliminator system I have found is an ozone machine. The problem is that it is unhealty to have it on while you are in the room.

once in a blue moon I will smoke a cigar in the family room and watch a dvd, and when the wife is away visiting relatives then I will smoke a cigar three or four nights out of the week she is gone in the family room. I simply have a slider door open. I have noticed hardly any smell the next day and when coming home from work the next night no smell at all and even my wife when she returned from her trip did not even know until I told that I smoked cigars in the house. As everything else, done in moderation I don't think will leave a permanent or lasting odor. Therefore if you only smoke one cigar a week during football season, it will smell at the time, but won't linger and I doubt it will be noticed the next day, I don't think that is too much to ask of your wife. Smoking a cigar in the house every day is one thing, but on occasion isn't a problem, why can't women just be a little more rational and a little less hypersensitive?

After smoking, splash your basement with cheap perfume. Tell your wife you had hookers in the basement but there was no cigar smoking. This will confuse and bewilder her. Smoke and repeat perfume dousing. Let stand for two weeks then add real hookers. If your wife accuses you of having hookers, tell her its cheap perfume to hide the cigar smoke. She will eventually give up and take a lover of her own. Thus, creating a utopia of smoke and whores. I hope this helps.

The ozone generator is a great "after-the-fact" tool. It has very little affect on the smoke that you'll be generating at the moment. Let it run for a day afterwards, and you'll never know there was any smoking going on. To cut down on the smoke while you're in the act, try the fan blowing out the window, and/or use an air treatment unit. (hepa unit)

Bundle up, get a portable DVD player, extension cord from the cable/satellite and smoke outside. If your wife is like mine, the problem cannot be resolved from inside.
