Dash cam video shows a police officer dragging a 77-year-old woman out of her vehicle after she refused to show a driver's license during a routine traffic stop in Keene, Texas. TODAY's Natalie Morales reports.

A local Texas police department is standing by an officer who dragged a 77-year-old grandmother out of her car for speeding after she repeatedly refused to provide her driver's license.

Follow @NBCNewsUSThe entire arrest was caught on video by the Keene Police Department.

The woman, Lynn Bedford, of nearby Cleburne, was stopped on Aug. 19 for driving 66 mph in a 50-mph zone.

Bedford told Sgt. Gene Geheb that she had a bladder infection and had to go to the bathroom, but the situation quickly escalated when the officer asked several times for her identification and she refused.

Advertise | AdChoices"Just hurry up; I have to go to the bathroom," she said.

"Let me see your driver's license and insurance, please," the officer asked.

She declined several times.

"No, I want to see your driver's license and insurance, please, and then I'll listen to you," the officer said.

"I'll give it to you in a minute," she replied.

"No, you give it to me now, or I'm going to take you to jail," he said.

"Well, go ahead," she said.

The officer then pulled her out of her car and handcuffed her.

Bedford's attorney, Clay Graham, of Fort Worth, said the officer overreacted.

"The officer is not very interested in listening to what she has to say," Graham said. "She gets a little frustrated. And then he just overwhelms her. That's what I see. And then it goes from routine stop to ridiculous stop."

Graham said Bedford was injured during the arrest.

He said Bedford is not interested in filing a lawsuit right now but isn't ruling it out in the future.

The lawyer said the woman was returning home from playing the piano at church when the incident occurred.

In a statement, Keene Police Chief Rocky Alberti stood by the officer's actions.

"This incident has been reviewed thoroughly by the Keene Police Department and the City of Keene Administration," Alberti said in a written statement. "All parties have concluded that Sgt. Geheb did not violate any state laws or department policies, and in fact was following department policy in regards to violators not providing identification."

I think the point Papa is making here is that a speeding infraction (and yes a refusal to show ID) got this US Citizen and Grandmother hauled from her car and threatened to go to jail while MILLIONS of Illegals have entered our country and NOTHING is done about it. Hell they'll even make the process as easy as possible to ensure they get to vote. Here in the Hoosier state they just passed the first of I'm sure many Bills to come giving those teens "Of working age IIRC) the green light to stay for two years.

Too many Law enforcement agencies /officers ****tin on US citizens while treating Illegals with " Kid Gloves" Because they're TOLD to by the Chain of Command

Maybe he chuddah let her Pee real quick....Sarcasm

one part of me slightly thought he overreacted but the more i thought about it,( and after watching the video in which she was very confrontational,) im sure EVERYONE has some BS excuse.. i have to pee, it's that time of the month, im late for work, blah blah blah. She could have easily forked over her license and apologized to the officer and said "im really sorry officer, im just coming back from church and i have a bladder infection that causes sudden urges, can you help me out please?" Im sure that would have gone a lot further with the officer and helping her get what she needed if she truly had a legitimate issue.

And yes, my point was two fold with TMCTLT understanding the latter point.

JUDGE JUDY SAYS IF YOU ARE STOPPED BY A POLICE OFFICER YOU MAY
ASK HIM WHY HE STOPPED YOU, BUT YOU ARE REQUIRED BY LAW TO INDENTIFY YOURSELF
WITH A DRIVER'S LICENSE AND SINCE IT IS ILLEGAL TO DRIVE WITHOUT INSURANCE
YOU MUST PROVE YOU ARE DRIVING LEGALLY.

ANY OTHER QUESTIONS CAN AND SHOULD BE BROUGHT UP IN A COURT OF LAW IN FRONT
OF A JUDGE. THE POLIC OFFICER IS NOT REQUIRED TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS.
THAT IS THE JUDGE'S RESPONSIBILITY.

WHY GIVE THE POLICEMAN A HARD TIME?

IMO, the cop did every thing right. He was more than patient with her. She deserves whatever she gets.

that's what I was thinking Robert.... This has been brought up here at work and some think the cop should have let her go just because she was old and they're assuming she was prolly suffering from dimencia or somethin.. I guess you just would have had to be there to have an informed opinion... Mellow

Speaking of which, IMHO, Chris Rock sounds and acts like he's performing at a modern day, negro minstrel show.
I loved his New Jack City haircut too.

I still giggle when I remember the Wayan bros (In Living Color) imitating Rock's Amos 'n Andy delivery with the crooked hands...
Wayan's impersonation of the big assed Arsenio feigning interest as he interviewed celebrities was spot on as well.Applause
