VP Debate Moderator: The fix is in.

Martha Raddatz, the moderator for the VP debate tonight, at first glance appears well qualified to moderate. Her credentials are impeccable, and ABC has done a dandy job highlighting every aspect of her life and career. All aspects, that is, except her obvious ties with President Obama.

It seems that ABC failed to mention the fact that Obama went to her first wedding.
When she married Julius Genachowski.
Former classmate of Obama at Harvard Law.
Current FCC Chairman as appointed by Obama in 2009.

Now, to be fair, this really shouldn't matter.
But why, then, would ABC news purposefully omit such obvious and delicious details in their article "Getting to know ABC News Foreign Correspondent and VP debate Moderator Martha Raddatz".
The date on that article is Oct 11th. Yes, that's today.
A full 24 hours after this concern was brought to light, but still ignored by ABC.

This could backfire. She might over-compensate and end up favoring Ryan over Biden.

But this wouldn't be an issue if people were up front with such obvious concerns at the get-go.
This reeks of media bias. No matter how genuine she may be, the perception of bias should have been enough to choose another moderator.

The Romney/Ryan team has some real idiots running the campaign.
Whatever bias exists on behalf of the moderator should not be enough to compensate for Joe's innate stupidity however.

Let Plugs O'Biden tag team with Owedumba...one can say stupid crap and the other can just look at his shoes and crap.

You KNOW it was bad when:

It's Ryan's debate to lose. On the one hand, if she isn't tough on Biden, then it's one more thing to make Team Blue look as though they are grasping for straws. If she's tougher on Biden than Ryan, well that works in his favor as well.

We shall see.

Both sides have to approve the moderator. The Romney/Ryan camp either don't feel it's an issue or they didn't vet her thoroughly enough.

I agree with your last sentence Jack.

But Ryan isn't landing his blows and pushing. He's attacking then counterpunching a counterpunch. Biden is arguing alot of made up sheet but he's selling it well for a deranged moron.

This stupid biotch needs to get this debate under control.......but that ain't gonna happen because Joe "Foot in Mouth" Biden is the only one interupting and speaking out of turn.I'd personally like to slap that smug smile off his fuqqing face.

Great moderator. Biden is talking over, and interrupting every point Ryan is trying to make, while the moderator just sits there and allows it, and even on occasion joins in with Biden. I guess the fix really is in.

Maybe it is a lot more difficult mediating a debate between such strong personalities in such an important matter isn't as easy as some might think?

True. But joining IN an interruption doesn't enforce percieved effort.

I say Biden by a good bit, but not near the thumping Obama got. Had Obama just done only as well as Biden did tonight, the election would still be pretty much over. Biden spoke right out to his real and potential constituents. Less gaffes than expected. Smile won't go down that bad, all things considered. Minor bump, perhaps a point or so, but certainly not enough to make any real difference. However, if this is followed by a good show by Obama, he will be back in the lead- but no longer by enough to guarantee anything. good show by both.

I think Plugs was playing to the base to fire them up after the POTUS poopie. I disagree that it will play well to the undecided, but time will tell I guess. Smiling and laughing with the state of the union and not really addressing real failures by this administration I just don't see swinging the middle.

Agreed......I just hope third party voters see this as an opportunity to stop the madness rather than make a statement by wasting their vote.

Biden was very rude and un professional in my opinion. The moderator was aggressive towards ryan and i think he handled it well.
I keep seeing on the boob tube that biden was stronger in the debate i think he was louder but like a boxing match i think biden threw more punches but ryan landed more...
Again very un professional and yappy

Biden clearly came across as a typical slimeball liberal politician. Whenever he was pushed into a corner by the facts presented by Ryan, he resorted to disrespectful and undignified smirking, laughing, and interrupting.

America, I truly hope you can do better than four more years of the Obama/ Biden dog and pony show.

I was disappointed in Biden... they never had my vote but damn... he was as unprofessional as one can get.... Not talking

I don't know if he changed anyone's mind but he was prolly sincere or laid out the puppy-dog eyes enough about a couple topics to either convince or scare, especially the elderly, Obama was on their side.....

Oh. Sorry.
We didn't know it was difficult.
I guess it's OK then that her partisan bias and complete ineptitude were glaringly apparent. Because, you know, it ain't easy.

If she were any less qualified, she'd probably be employed by Obama already.

A waste of my evening overall. Joe eye roller Biden made Al Gore with his sighs & smirks look like Emily Post. How can someone LAUGH when deaths and potential destruction are being discussed??? Is it a nervous tic or early dementia?

I've seen Paul Ryan show more assertiveness ordering lunch. Ryan appeared to be better informed but looked a bit overwhelmed by a guffawing drunk who had his moments but interrupted 82 times & didn't seem to grasp the importance of telling the truth from the onset. Yeah, they were never notified by Intelligence... (so true for the wrong reasons) and Intelligence fell short on the job BUT when it comes to Iran, the Intelligence will be on top... Keep barking Mr. Storeboughtteeth. Few times I agreed with this clown was on having the Afghanis fight their own wars.

But to answer the OP's question, IMO, he moderator appeared a little intimidated & awestruck by the inappropriate laugher. Biden repaid her deference by waving his finger & talking down to her at times worse than he did Ryan. ...but that didn't stop her from interrupting the Catholic altar boy Ryan over 30 times (she interrupted Biden 19 times).

Perhaps the televised debate was for the best. It showed Biden for the superficial lout he is.

But to be honest with you, I sort of felt sorry for this country all that time. I don't think we have a cure for what ails us regardless of who wins.

I added the Huffington Post channel on Roku so we could watch the debate last night.

80+ times of interrupting Ryan?

Looking at the camera and telling us who we should believe???

OMG...I can't think of a single positive this entire administration has produced...not one!

This has been the worst administration I've ever seen and I really didn't think Carter would ever be outdone.

If there are mouthbreathers out there looking for THIS debate to make up their minds...wow. Both of the Presidential candidates are younger...athletic so the worry of the Number 2 taking over is almost a non-factor. I want there to be a strong individual sitting there and in my lifetime...Bush was as good as it's ever been! He was the only VP to move forward to the White House too.

The polling is coming out on all the majors this am and they have Ryan winning this...this hot mess of stewing poo that means very little to me personally.

I still can't believe Joe Biden is the sitting Vice President of the USA.

There was a time the world watched the USA's every move to learn. The world still watches the USA's every move but it is not to learn....it is more to be wary of how the unwinding of the empire will affect them.

I'm wif ya. That was my initial kneejerk reaction too. Then I thought about his "facts".
Easy to be swayed by theatrical interruptions & derisive laughter. Biden's persuasive for a barroom buffoon.

Anybody wonder if Biden may have been drunk or on some medication?
Or perhaps he was nervous. I've run across people who get an inappropriate, crazy Cheshire Cat smile when confronted.
