There is NO WAY they will let this happen. If they allowed us to go back into a recession because of their lack of action that would mean the end of all the perks they get in Washington. It's always something that we are supposed to fear when you watch the news.

anything they do will likely be retroactive anyway.... it's not much of a cliff. it's more of a clavin.

I prefer tax and spend to borrow and spend (ala Bush).

You’re going to make me say it aren’t you? Aren’t you?
“It’s Bush's fault.”
There, I said it and I’m glad.

Maybe for something new and fun we could make spending a slave to taxes, instead of making taxes a slave to spending.

As if we wouldn't have been doing the same under a repubelicking administration.

Don't worry, there will be another, and most likely bigger "Oh ****" moment just down the line.

The nice thing is that all the laws are already signed and in place to make it happen. All it takes is 2 months of gridlock and it is on.
On the plus side.....it would be the beginning of some level of fiscal responsibility.
On the minus side...the cut from government spending and the increased taxes on everybody will clip enough off the GDP to put the USA back in recession.
...but austerity is going to suck far worse later!

Just go back to watching "NASCAR stars with roller skating dancing bears" and leave the adult conversation to the adults.
Really.

Latest Pew poll states that 52% of Americans will blame the Republican House if we go off the cliff. The brainwashing of America is complete.
