For something simple, grabbed a bottle of Big House The Usual Suspect '10 Cab Sav.
And just in case the Big House is a big bust, grabbed another bottle of Dreaming Tree.

I need to find some of the Petite Petit, sounds like a wine for me.

Ménage à Trois' is a great drinking wine, wouldnt order it out but at home its in the rotation as our table wine.
Coppola is good, I don't know that much but for me $2-3 more then it should be.
J Lohr is a good cab for the money a little less then Coppola.
For a budget wine like Menage, Red Rock makes a good blend and Merlot
I too liked the Dreaming Tree, Ill get some more.
Dry Creek makes a great meritage, my opinion of course.
Paraduxx is a good $$ value from Duckhorn as is Migration Pinot, Decoy is the least $ and it too is great for little money.
Like cigars drink what you like and like what you drink!

One of my local Costco's carry it but not others. I also found it at Total Wine for $.50 more. Been through cases of the stuff since I found it about 2 years ago. Drool

BTW the Ménage à Trois' is a meritage and not a cab thus the name. Has Merlot, Zin and Cab in the red blend.

Try and find their Cab...its new so it might be hard to find. It's AWESOME! Even better than the Table red and that was pretty good too.

From their website:

Ménage à Trois
Cabernet Sauvignon

Our magnificent Cab blends grapes from three outstanding California growing regions: Sonoma, Lake and Napa counties. Its lush, dark berry flavors, silky tannins and long, sumptuous finish are truly regal. After barrel-aging in French and American oak, Ménage à Trois Cabernet Sauvignon emerges, garnet-hued and regal, ready to make you its latest conquest.

despite a world of pricey excellent wines, there's so much good juice for short money that it's crazy. In addition to those mentioned here, tons more from Portugal and Spain ar eeverywhere.

I have actually really enjoyed their table red - it's in the regular rotation. Going to have to look for their cab, now!

Yup - Chile and Australia are doing pretty well, too, esp. Chile. I still try to stay as local as possible - our local wineries have been putting out so many good, inexpensive wines that there's no *reason* to wander too far from home. My favorite Gewürztraminer is still clear down in San Diego, though...

Okay - it's DEFINITELY wine time... mama needs the BIG glass!

'08 3 Horse Ranch Syrah/Mourverdre tonight. Highly recommended... you may have to travel to get it though, lol.

I am ashamed I did not mention Chile. I have several friends from there in my neighborhood, fantastic people who know how to have a great time, and their wines are serious bargains too. Thanks for reminding me.

Oh yeah, good Malbecs from Argentina too.

Where are you from that you get these local wines? and what is that favorite Gewurtztraminer of yours?

I'm in Idaho. 3 Horse Ranch is out west of me in Eagle - near Boise. Indian Creek is out there, too - they make a KILLER Pinot Noir. Haven't tried the most recent vintage yet, but the '08 and '09 were GREAT.

The Gewurtztraminer is from Orfila Winery - out near the SD Wild Animal Park. Haven't had it in years, but the grapefruit and apricot won my heart LOL. Not off-puttingly sweet, either. Haven't found another quite like it.

I was looking for the Menage a Trois Cab in the store tonight - no luck. Going to try a couple other places tomorrow or Friday, if they're open. Not the usual "Black Friday" haunts for most, so it should be safe LOL!

Most of the Zinfandels from Lodi,Ca. are terrific.
if you can find it try Old Ghost Zin. made from
90 yr. old vines, Delicato has a good one. Gnarly Head
Old Vine Zin. Old Ghost is from Clinker Brick Winery.

Cupcake Cabernet Sauvignon 2010 - very easy, simple, drinkable cab - with a WOAM.

Had a Robert Mondavi Private Selection 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon. Very disappointing. Very alchoholy with little flavor. A Cain Maduro Robusto held up the vino, otherwise I would not have had it for dinner. May use the remainder to marinate some beef. Disappointing for a Mondavi but it was a cheaper vintage.

Have to get a half-dozen bottles of some good stuff for the holidays.
