IMHO we were "there" mostly for OTHER folks' (Europe, Japan...) access to oil.
Then when Dubya promised to compensate the taxpayer for the 50 billion/yr war effort in Iraq with Iraq's oil revenues, he (and Iraq) later conveniently got amnesia and Iraq bid out the refinery/processing services to the highest bidder.
Wonder if Kuwait lost our phone number after we liberated them & they became our instant "best friends"? Haven't heard nor gotten any support from them in a while...
I'd also like to thank the military industrial complex (and their investors) for their service to themselves.
