Insights about particular terminology being used incorrectly in the discourse are wrong. Gun-related nomenclature is nowhere near a real real issue and to claim otherwise is dismissive- at best. People who don't know the proper name of a part and who have even never seen a real gun can think and reason the exact same way others can.

Only they often times reason much more loudly, and never as knowledgeably as those who do.

I'm very glad to hear that your swimming pool hasn't killed.... yet. But statistics show that it may very well kill an innocent child in the future. If you really care about our children, you would fill in your pool and demand that Washington outlaw private ownership. Pools are too dangerous to be in private hands, and there is nothing in our Constitution that guarantees your right to own one. If it only saves one child, wouldn't it be worth giving up your selfish convenience?

It supprise me that this sort of rickety reasoning passes for 'logic'.

Come on Brewha, you're smarter then this. Do I have to spell it out for you? It was a sarcastic absurdity, to point out other absurdities, that for some reason you tend to grasp as "logic".

Restricting a Constitutional right to the law abiding, in the hope that it will stop criminals (those who do not obey laws), from committing criminal acts. How can anyone consider that to be the least bit rational?

Yet I hear all the time “if it only saves one child”. OK, bud, if the gun grabbers are so concerned with saving life, then maybe they should look at the conveniences they enjoy that kill children every year. They sure don’t seem to have any problem sacrificing lives for the sake of their recreation and convenience. Total hypocrisy, but I’m sure you can’t even see it.

Give yourself more credit DP. What you see as absurdly sarcastic would ring true to many as the most insightful truths spoken from the prophet of God himself. Don’t underestimate the stupid. Your posting “filled with sound and fury” should cause Fox to offer you a job.

On to the point at hand, you make the statement;

“Restricting a Constitutional right to the law abiding, in the hope that it will stop criminals (those who do not obey laws), from committing criminal acts. How can anyone consider that to be the least bit rational?”

I recognize that it is appealing to write in embellished emotional terms, but his sort of slight of hand only works with the short sited – and who aren’t watching. In fact our entire body of laws (with exception of tax code I suppose) does what you question as being “the least bit rational”. We criminalize acts, and that limits our freedoms – and gladly. Who the hell wants child rape to be legal? You?

Truth is you call it hypocrisy because you don’t understand the issue or simply are on the opposition. You resort to the absurd because you lack any realistic argument.

Everything is a mix of benefit and hazard (even hot tubs). At question is the benefit/hazard ratio of some weapons. So again I ask you, what is the benefit to these weapons?

Hunting and target shooting scarcely require 30+ round assault rifles.
National defense??? Bubbas and Earl protecting us from whom? Invading Ethiopians after our cash of fried chicken?

I see no benefit that offsets the risk . . . . .

So are you o.k. with me deciding which of your rights are approved and the ammount of anything you own?

Rule #2 - Double Tap

Lots of zombies require large magazines with lots of rounds in each. Rule #2 can also apply to looters &/or Cracked Up punks. JMO ram27bat

Hunting with more than a 5 round clip if often already prohibited. Target shooting is much better with larger clips. We all know that isn't what the 2nd amendment is about.

You trust that your government will never get out of hand and you trust your government will always have the military might to not need your assistance.

Why do you assume Bubba & Earl have AR-15s? These are very pricy. It is more likely to be owned by someone named Leopold III than Leroy.

You are under no risk due to "assault" weapons being legal yet you are willingly offering to permanently surrender your rights.

Funny how many other firearms have the same capabilities but look nothing like an evil assault rifle and are never mentioned. That right there should give any rational person a warning.

I've been thinking about all this, and maybe I'm ready to TRADE IN my semi-auto sporting rifles and magazines to the Governor. All I'd need in return is a couple of those trick FN P90s that his security force carries, and of course a supply of it's "standard" capicity magazines. If he's good enough to be protected by them, then so is my family.

I’m not really pushing for a ban on anything. I am questioning if the current laws on assault weapons are appropriate. It is a bit of a hoot to hear the rants about freedom – as though there aren’t all kinds of dangerous things that are illegal, and we all agree that they should be.

You are not facing a risk from "assault" rifles. You face a danger from bee stings or lightning strikes.

Just read some of this and I feel for you. Your semi-auto sporting rifles will have to be registered in the next year. 7 round mag limit, which means 99% of all semi-auto pistols are now single shot (no such thing as an under 10 round mag), and your sporting rifles are now 5 shots max. They knew exactly what they where doing with this 7 round limit. Virtually making all semi auto pistols useless, without actually "banning" them.

You can leave, but your worthless prick of a governor is looking to the White House in 2016. Be afraid America, be very afraid.

7 shots like a 1911 in 45? lol i love the number of bullets in a magazine makes a difference arguement. I can reload fairly quickly. press button mag drops slam in next mag slap release continue firing. The mag limit only makes you have to practice more and carry more of them.

Why 10 rounds or more. People miss under pressure ask the police they MISS A LOT.

Lets make ammo more expensive so people cant practice and become proficient. That way we can call them untrained and dangerous.

Lets make it so only criminals posses these weapons and then we can say look THEY CAUSE CRIME!

I am tired of my government thinking they can regulate away problems.

You are right some things should be illegal but the making of anthrax and child rape are not the same as owning a gun.

Thats like saying pot is illegal because you cant use it and not get high but alchohol is legal because you can have one drink and not be drunk.

This type of diversionary move was much utilized by Barry's socialist political strategy predecessors, the Soviet army generals of WWII. They'd send virtually unarmed conscript battalions of their own civilian prisoners toward the German lines to draw fire so they could appraise the enemy's firepower and waste their ammunition. After the Soviet generals had finished their analysis they'd quickly form a battle plan, then strike the enemy lines.

Even with so many things being illegal they still happen. Drugs are illegal, but still on the streets. If we take away our weapons those who still have them illegally will be the ones running our lives.

I also believe it's not just about taking away our "freedom", but the right to protect ourselves.
