Send the women and the gays to Israel to fight their next war for them.

For Israel I think it makes more sense just off of population #'s alone.

I don't like it, but my opinion doesn't mean anything.

I cannot imagine the fear the desert ragheads would feel if attacked by a combined force of Jewish women & nicely coordinated gays.
But wait a minute... when I was a kid in retail, we faced an army of frantic women and fussy shoppers at a SS Kresge's Labor Day sale. The screams & carnage was staggering. Smell of ass with Charlie cologne kicked up the gag reflex. To this day I rarely talk about it unless I'm well fed and drunk. Beer

The problem is "battle" goals should never be career advancement. We should be as violent and as swift as possible to save blood and treasure. I do not see women in battle making us more lethal.

They could certainly do some tasks in battle as well maybe even better........but battle isn't the place to worry about fairness and diversity. IMO.

^ I think that some people feel Starship Troopers exist.

I don't have a problem with it if she can handle herself like a man, pick up 200lbs, crap, eat, kill, & move on... but boy oh boy if the enemy ever gets a hold of her... Won't matter how ugly she is. May be distracting too for the other soldiers but hey, they showered communally in Starship Troopers.

I am brainwashed. One of the first things that popped in my head was "well at least we can use the maxi-pads for additional pressure dressings if we run out in a firefight".

I think a brigade or two of flaming homosexuals with pink camo fanny packs and bacon hancuffs would be great in the middle east.

Let our lady boys watch some Iranian videos on the middle east treatment of homsexuals, maybe they'll forgive Anita Bryant.

Why, Celtic? Don't sell us short, my friend. I think most (remember I said "most"- lol) people have more important things to worry about than opinions.

I like what Oliver Stone did to Alexander- made him a whiny, little, bleached blonde fella with Irish brogue & black eyebrows who was comforted by momma Jolie. Very historically accurate I'm sure.

As it stands now, women are held to different standards than men.

That is fine, as the women don't directly fight on the front lines.

That being said, once they ARE fighting on the front lines, is the enemy going to take those different standards into account? Is leadership going to take the different standards into account when determining who carries what? Is a female's kit going to be lighter than a male's because the standards are different?

Then there's the differences in hygeine. Sure, the army can make accomodations for female hygeine, but as prior infantry, i have worn the same uniform in the field for weeks on end, with no shower, due to optempo. I'm pretty sure that causes some problems for them.

And of course, we also have the issue of our societal programming of "Men save Women." It might be chauvanistic, and it probably is sexist, but it doesn't make it any less legitimate. A woman being captured, or killed, or worse, will have a MUCH higher impact on unit morale than if a male counterpart were the victim.

You also have the problem (and this is less of a combat arms specific issue, but again....morale issue that doesn't exist in the tight knit combat arms units right now) of false accusations. I'm not saying that sexual harrassment shouldn't be reported. It should, and it should be dealt with harshly. However, it is not uncommon in today's society for a scorned woman, or even a woman who feels that she was wronged professionally, to file a bogus harrassment suit, effectively ending the career and family life of the accused. Again, this is less of a issue specific problem, but it's still something to consider when weighing the pros vs cons.

On that matter, I'm actually trying to find any "Pros" other than making the females feel more equal....which they won't be due to separate standards. What happened to "Mission First?" When did hurt feelings start driving policy? If there are actual pro's that make completing the mission easier, faster, or more efficient, I'm all ears.

Call me an a$$, call me a pig, call me a sexist, but don't call me late for dinner. But seriously, I have the utmost respect for women, as my wife will tell you. This is just an issue that I feel extremely strongly about due to the above reasons.

I'm done.

Women's rights, equality, equal pay, yada yada yada, I wonder how the feminists are going to explain to mall shopping teenage girls that they HAVE to register for the draft at Selective Service for the privilege of fighting for freedom loving arabs! Yay! Dancing

This is the crux of the problem for me. Can't quantify it. Can't really defend it logically. But there it is.

Not just unit morale, either. The whole nation's morale. Having female KIA, WIA, and especially POW is different. Just is.
