Ughhhhhhhhhhhh, yes they can be. I walk into a shpo a couple years ago and see a guy doing this. So I strike up a conversation. Well ha said his buddy smokes and told him to leave it on cuz it gave it better flavor.d'oh!

Well I introduced him to a couple good cigars around the $7 range w/o the cedar. He saaid they were way better w/o the cedar as he took it off the Fuente he was smoking after about a half inch into it.

He now knows better and hope he corrected his friend.

Giving the benefit of a doubt...this is what I was hoping as well.

But if they are used to smoking White Owls and Phillies, as might also be the case with the above pic, the cedar probably does help. LOL

Interesting.

Next time you see him ask what their method is for smoking a cigar that's in a glass tube????

That story should be facinating.Think

The most perplexing thing to me is not that some people are incredibly ignorant when trying things foreign to them, such as cigars, but the notion that when someone is famous and trying their best to portray that they're slick, cool, hip, and everthing else for a photo-op, and didn't do their homework to protect themselves from looking like a complete fool. To me, that's uncommonly brain-dead.

I'm wondering if the cigar is even cut. Think ...I guess if it's a punch cut you wouldn't see it, but you never know since he's trying to smoke it with the cedar on.

I've been passing out cigars here, and I gave a chateau to a relatively new smoker. He tried to light it with the cedar AND the cloth at the foot. I told him to take it off (and instantly thought of this thread and couldn't help but laugh). He takes the cloth off and starts to light it....cedar still on. I tell him not to do that, and he insists that it's how he likes to smoke them. I then point out the peice of plastic tape holding the cedar together and ask him if he likes to smoke that too.

This really made me laugh. Did he smoke the ribbon already?? I've never really thought about it but it seems like you would have to really try to keep the cedar on when taking off the ribbon!

...Am I the only person wondering what that would taste like? LOL

Granted.
Very well aware that there are many fools out there. Believe me, in my line of work, I've seen more than my fair share of perfect idiots. My point is, this a famous fool, not just some random guy trying a new hobby. This my friend is act of incredible stupidity. Read Post #24.
