JERUSALEM POST Editor: 'We Can't Figure Out What He's Doing Here... a hostile president overall'

The White House released a map of his tour of Israel, which was the map of Israel prior to the 1967 war, and did not show Jerusalem as the Capitol of Israel. Why they're still pushing this is beyond me, and seems to show how clueless they really are.

Obama's back-up limo broke down because someone put diesel fuel in it, instead of gas. More incompetence. Obama planted a tree, and it was promptly dug up ... For testing.

Obama is apparently trying to push & woo the public, but the vast majority doesn't think he fully understands the issues they face. I personally don't he does either, given the meeting he had with Netanyahu 2 years ago, when Bibi strongly took him to task over tensions in the area. Apparently Obama is trying to boost the chances of Tzipi Livni, leader of Israel's opposition Kadima party.

The Israeli public is largely pissed off at his appointing Chuck Hagel as the Secretary of Defense.

This is not shaping up to be a good visit to Israel for Obama . . .

You misunderstand why he's there!

He's scouting for a golf course he hasn't played on yet!

The Kenyan King is an embarrassment when it comes to Mid-East relationships. He's shredded the notion of being Israel's friend...that's for sure. Refusing to meet with the PM...making him go out the back where they dump trash...backing the Muslim Brotherhood fanatically with their media pals...foot dragging on Iran's nuclear development...giving M1A1 tanks and fighter jets to Egypt...I can go on and on and on!

Why in the world anyone that's Jewish in this country would back the guy completely blows me away. S&M has got to be the only answer.

Really a shame that O'Blamer was not in Sderot when the two rockets dropped in. If he were maybe he would better understand what Israel faces everyday.

If you watch the Obama Propaganda Networks, you would think the trip is a fantastic success, and all of Israel loves him.

Nixon Mocked Democrats for Jerusalem Position

Last year, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney attacked the Democratic convention platform for its "shameful" decision to omit a reference to Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. But in a sign of how U.S. politics have changed in 40 years, President Richard Nixon complained in 1972 of the Democrats' "dishonest" platform language declaring the city Israel's capital.

Nixon's national security adviser, Henry Kissinger, agreed with his condemnation during a previously unreported taped conversation from June 29, 1972. "To make Jerusalem the capital of Israel is not the platform of a major American national party," Henry Kissinger told Nixon. "That is what I find so revolting here." The tape is one of a collection housed at the University of Virginia's Miller Center.

On Wednesday, Barack Obama arrived in Israel for his first visit there as president — about six months after telling Democratic Party officials to reinstate language from previous convention platforms stating Jerusalem is the Israeli capital.

"It is wonderful to be back in Jerusalem, the eternal city," Obama said at an appearance with Israeli President Shimon Peres at Peres' home in Jerusalem Wednesday, following a meeting between the two men.

But on Tuesday in Washington, Obama's administration argued in a federal appellate court that a law allowing Americans born in Jerusalem to have their place of birth listed on their U.S. passports as Israel infringed on the president's foreign policy powers. The United States, during administrations of both political parties, has refused to recognize any nation's sovereignty over Jerusalem since Israel's creation in 1948.

The Republicans added language to their platform in 1996 declaring Jerusalem the capital of Israel, and the party has included similar language ever since. Democrats have kept it in their platform for every election since 1972 except for 1988, according to a review of presidential platforms compiled by the American Presidency Project at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

For decades, Republican and Democratic administrations alike have said it is up to the Israelis and Palestinians to settle Jerusalem's final status — essentially a neutral position amid rivaling territorial claims. Both sides consider the city their capital, and its status has long been among the thorniest issues in Mideast peace talks.

The 1972 chat begins with Kissinger asking Nixon if he'd read the Democrats' foreign policy platform.

"I didn't want to lose my breakfast, so I didn't bother," Nixon replied.

After relating the Democrats' policies on the Vietnam War, Kissinger said, "Then all-out on Israel, I mean, in a really nauseating way ... in a degree of detail, you know, Jerusalem should be the capital, direct negotiations between the parties. Nauseating detail."

"I mean, this is a disgrace. This is written by a bunch of cynical amateurs," added Kissinger, who is Jewish.

Nixon responded: "To be all-out on Israel — isn't that something, though? That is, that is so dishonest."

The Republican president suggested that Democratic military cuts would leave Israel vulnerable to military aggression. Israel had fought a war against its Arab neighbors five years earlier.

"You can be for Jerusalem being the capital, and if you're got a $35 billion defense cut, you ain't going to be able to — there isn't going to be anything to be capital of," said Nixon, who was considered a friend of Israel despite making many anti-Semitic comments in private.

"Well it shows you what we're — we contend with. And it also shows the necessity for us to be in good shape. Because these people are so revolting that they have to be smashed," Nixon said.

"They must be smashed," Kissinger added.

Nixon went on: "But I don't, I don't mean just beat them. It's good to beat them. But I mean smashed. They must be, they must be, disgraced, driven right out of public life."

The conversation occurred two years before the Watergate scandal would drive Nixon from office in disgrace.

In the midst of your outrage, your panties are showing.

All I saw was someone wishing the president was in the same city where a lawn chair was damaged. It would be a much greater offense to wish the president visited Detroit or Philadelphia for an overnight stay.

I can definitely see Obama rising up to the level of mayor of Detroit. That's about his real pay grade.
He should resign & go for it. Hillary & Biden are in the wings ready to go.

Wazzup with the popularity of Yankees and White Sox caps with rappers?? The generic, puffy, Elmer Fudd model appears to be making a comeback too.

Are you wishing harm to the prez? I'm not and will not. But some times you have to get up close to understand what is really going on. It is like having a job, you really can't discuss the requirements unless the individual has been employed in a real job.

I was in Israel recently.

On average, Idi Amin Jr. is not all that well liked. Israelis kinda divide themselves into two factions: conservative and liberal, and admit as much. Yet, the people I talked to will tell you one thing: regardless of politics, at the end of the day they are all Jews, they all live in Israel. And some of those liberal ones have not forgotten the carnage of the Intafadas (sp:?).

So, their collective dislike of Junior doesn't surprise me all that much.

On one of my cab rides back to the hotel, I managed (or should say, was dragged into) a political discussion with the cabbie about politics. Not wanting to p*ss the guy off and have to walk back to the hotel having to carry my laptop in bag with a busted strap in some foreign land where I stick out like a green thumb with my colorful Hawaiian shirt on, I tried to keep it "light" (if that is possible in a political discussion).

The cabbie was obviously a Bibi guy, so it made things a bit easier on my end.

That guy thought that Idi Amin Jr. was a Kenyan Muslim.

I agreed with him.

Good times had by all...
