Glad I downloaded the CAD drawings before this happened. Now I just need to be able to get a 3D printer one day...

That "undetectable" part is pretty much BS unless it fires without ammunition.

There is a company out there now that is marketing polymer cased rounds.

Defense Distributed also has the plans for a 3D printed AR lower among other innovations

Primers and projectiles are going to contain dense material if it's going to be an effective firearm. Without an effective projectile you would be better off with a knife.

Even a plastic weapon is going to require dense material around the chamber and barrel. Plastic can show in an x-ray scan, chambers and barrels are pretty distinctive.

IMO, most of the hullabaloo about this plastic gun is all about controlling the masses and scaring voters into giving up more rights.

exactly...the X-ray machines that TSA use are to show shapes over dense materials...so plastics are shown for their shape

F = m * a

Force = mass * acceleration

....yeah... this is gonna go over well.

As far as security is concerned, the metal detectors which people go through would likely not detect these. All you'd need to do is get the bullets and firing pin through somehow. that seems easy enough. That's why the guns present a slightly higher security risk. However, airports and the such are going towards those body scanners, which would pick these up.

either way, shutting this down was a dumb idea. It won't accomplish anything and just makes the government look more toothless.

To get enough velocity to make a plastic bullet effective you need lots of power. Lots of power equals lots of powder and lots of pressure in a compact weapon. Not good for a plastic weapon with a short barrel.

I am still calling the plastic firearm BS as a threat. I think the creator of this 3D gun was saying anti gun laws are worthless because if someone wants a firearm they can just make one. For security, think simple, the 911 s h i t bags (i.e., SB, I refuse to call them human names), used box cutters and fellow SBs to do their dirty work. Firearms can easily be made without the use of a 3d printer, but I do not want to give any SBs ideas.
