I don't always agree with Mencken, but he got this right 93 years ago. The voting morons seem to consistently elect morons to govern them.

I agree with you. Bloody. Our culture is upside down, and quite absurd. If you can distance yourself, there's even a little humor when the lemmings run over the cliff. Most don't know they've signed up for the trip.

As Tarp said, you have to have a bit of a sense of humor about things we can't easily control.
These are very trying times but no sense in rating and raving. I focus on God, family, friends... What else is there? I'm sorry but IMHO, "country" has taken a back seat for now.

I think you're right. America has taken a subordinate role, as a result of our "leadership", so we're now observers, with no role in the outcome.
