Michelle Obama’s Princeton classmate is executive at company that built Obamacare website

First Lady Michelle Obama’s Princeton classmate is a top executive at the company that earned the contract to build the failed Obamacare website.

Toni Townes-Whitley, Princeton class of ’85, is senior vice president at CGI Federal, which earned the no-bid contract to build the $678 million Obamacare enrollment website at Healthcare.gov. CGI Federal is the U.S. arm of a Canadian company.

Townes-Whitley and her Princeton classmate Michelle Obama are both members of the Association of Black Princeton Alumni.

Toni Townes ’85 is a onetime policy analyst with the General Accounting Office and previously served in the Peace Corps in Gabon, West Africa. Her decision to return to work, as an African-American woman, after six years of raising kids was applauded by a Princeton alumni publication in 1998

George Schindler, the president for U.S. and Canada of the Canadian-based CGI Group, CGI Federal’s parent company, became an Obama 2012 campaign donor after his company gained the Obamacare website contract.

As reported by the Washington Examiner in early October, the Department of Health and Human Services reviewed only CGI’s bid for the Obamacare account. CGI was one of 16 companies qualified under the Bush administration to provide certain tech services to the federal government. A senior vice president for the company testified this week before The House Committee on Energy and Commerce that four companies submitted bids, but did not name those companies or explain why only CGI’s bid was considered.

On the government end, construction of the disastrous Healthcare.gov website was overseen by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), a division of longtime failed website-builder Kathleen Sebelius’ Department of Health and Human Services.

Update: The Daily Caller repeatedly contacted CGI Federal for comment. After publication of this article, the company responded that there would be “nothing coming out of CGI for the record or otherwise today.” The company did however insist that The Daily Caller include a reference to vice president Cheryl Campbell’s House testimony. This has been included as a courtesy to the company.

Only when Bushes buddies got them. Media bias, that sort of thing. Kinda like all the presidential debate moderators. This will only get reported by the "alternative" media.

There's always been cronyism & nepotism but this takes it all to a new third world level.
No open market bidding anymore unless it's janitorial and construction and even then... Everything these days is "no bid" blanket agreements and "retainers" for many undeserving or large companies.

Sometimes I think we deserve the cesspool we helped create. We are a small, silly yet arrogant people always yearning for immediate gratification.
The world knows it & poo poohs it BUT they still flock to the USA because they know deep inside their shiiteholes are even worse. Despite that, many resist assimilation as they try to reproduce here what they originally ran away from in the first place.

Coco Kilpatrick (disgraced Detroit former mayor) could learn 'em how to do it correctly. Soon as he's paroled in 27 years, 11 months.

I've been wondering where the 2nd and 4th world has been flocking.

It IS a condescending term, Frank.
...and yes, HD, it's mostly the Less Industrially Developed World (how's that?) that flocks here but only because the Westerners are not openly wanted. Limited immigration quotas, visas, and such. Think changing demographics, my boy. Most Western World people are white, ie, potentially Republican; the poorer ethnic groups are usually nonwhite, more inclined to vote Democrat. Do the math.

Yeah.

The ones that come here and assimilate, they "get it." The rest: don't. They use it as a port in the storm, and when they realize that the storm isn't going to end, they try to make it "like home." The problem is that "home" MADE that frickin' storm in the first place.

And working with a lot of people from different countries makes me realize that the one thing that this nation has over everyone else is that you can live as comfortable as you'd like to work for. Meaning: you want nice stuff? You work for it. In other countries you get accustomed to not having nice things, because there is no incentive to go get them, and thus you take what is handed to you. I'll never forget the Swedes in the last company I worked for were CONSTANTLY complaining about how US workers got paid three-times what they did. Of course, none of them wanted to come work over here because we usually worked 40+ hours, and they never wanted to work past 31 - dead serious when I say this.

They used to get a massuse, pizza parties every Friday, and a whole bunch of perks, while we were working out of a Panera bread half of the time, and we had to use the public library for meetings at times. However, after a while, their little subsidized utopia came to a crashing halt as NONE of their stuff worked properly. It then became incumbent for the US branch to float the company's profit margin as we were the only profitable entity. We made a fourth of the revenue they were taking in, and we were actually turning a profit.

So in paying us three times as much in salary, we STILL had lower operating costs, and were able to turn a profit...mainly because we worked for what we got.

And then I'd have to sit down with them and listen to how great things in Sweden are. If they are so great, WHY IN THE HELL CAN'T YOU FRICKIN' SLACKERS TURN A PROFIT WHEN YOU PULL IN FOUR TIMES WHAT WE DO IN REVENUE?!?!?

But I'm not bitter...
