Woman Hailed by President as Obamacare Success Story Now Can't Afford Obamacare

CNN reports that a woman the president hailed as an Obamacare success story just realized she won't be able to afford Obamacare because it's too expensive:

"Jessica Sanford was cited by the president as an Obamacare success story at a health care event he had here at the White House in the Rose Garden on October 21," says a reporter for CNN from the White House. "That of course being just last month. The 48-year-old single mom from Washington state purchased what she considered to be affordable health care, life-changing event, she said, on the Washington state health exchange. She decided she was so excited about this news, she wanted to write an e-mail to the president to say that this had really changed her life and that she was thankful for the Afforable Care Act. The president included her e-mail in his remarks to people on hand for the event. Here's a bit of what the president had to say."

The CNN report quotes President Obama as saying, "I recently received a letter from a woman named Jessica Sanford in Washington state. And here's what she wrote, I am a single mom, no child support, self-employed. and I haven't had insurance for 15 years because it's too expensive. I was crying the other day when I signed up, so much stress lifted."

"But days, just really three days after she was mentioned by the president, Jessica Sanford started having problems, she was receiving letters from the Washington state health exchange," reports CNN. "The first letter telling her that tax credit was reduced, therefore, increasing the cost of her health care plan and the, take a look at this, then she received a letter just last week telling her that her tax credit had been taken away all together. Show you another document here, showing what the tax credit worked out to be... zero dollars according to this document that was provided to us by Jessica Sanford. She describes all of this as a roller coaster ride. Now she says she can't afford insurance in Washington state because of the new developments."

Sanford tells CNN that she's embarrassed. "It was a huge disappointment, especially since I had, you know, my story had been shared by the president. I felt like, you know, I just felt really embarrassed that, you know, he quoted my story and then come to find that the Washington health plan finder, the website here in our state, had grossly miscalculated or they're having a problem figuring their tax credits. and so at least for right now, I don't -- I'm not going to be getting insurance," she says.

The only alternative to

Obama Care?

Democrat Care

It's not more affordable for the victims of the law, it added to the deficit and it was rammed though congress without the approval of republicans.

So again, I want everyone to remember which azzholes dropped this stinking turd on Americans.

She does not fault Obama, but faults the state.

Really?

Of course the real issue with Obamacare is that it will never be able to afford the gross tonnage of tissue needed for right wing whining.

So, nothing is perfect . . . .

I just finished my open enrollment.

Cost went up 23% on my high deductible plan.
Deductible went up from $2500 to $3500 then it 70/30 instead of what was 80/20.

Awesome

My costs are going up too. As they have for every single year I have had insurance.

But at least this time we don't have to blame the insurance companies.

So Brewha. The cost increase would have been the same without the added mandates?

Most lefties are still blaming the insurance companies. They will continue to do so.

If you need more convincing that this whole thing (Obamacare) is an abysmal failure, just wait for the employer mandate to expire about this time next year, then, you can tell all the working folks that their insurance was going to go up anyway. Or you can blame it all on the greedy insurers.

Oh the memory of hearing Pelosi utter "We have to pass the bill to find out what's inside it" should shoehorn that memory on America.

You voted for this…you got it…the Supreme Court wanted you to know that message too!

Typical talking out of both sides of the mouth. In what world would one possibly think those folks whose hearth care costs are astronomical due to chronic illness when added to the pool would send pool costs down instead of up. Add to that an enormous bureaucracy needed to administer such a system. Not that I'm against insuring those most in need of coverage. But, to espouse such a system is going to reduce costs are about as honest as saying that one can keep their plan if they want to.

Perhaps if the guberment didn't hand out so much to every special interest group such as those in need of multiple free phones, land owners to not farm, hugely profitable oil companies to drill, damn near every country in the world, etc ad nauseam then perhaps a more limited program to address those with chronic conditions could have been implemented without dragging us closer to financial collapse.

Instead, those elected by the people for the people have created another 8,000,000,000,000 LB gorilla.

No, perhaps if there were no law to make the policies fair and proper they would have gone up less. Or without the laws more.

Regulation is needed. Tell me you have never heard of people being f'ed buy insurance companies.

I can't wait for my affordable Obamacare with ten thousand dollar deductibles & 23 yr old Asian doctors.
Still better than the expensive BC/BS shield crap with 10k deductibles that excludes everything that I need.

Brewha. I deal DIRECTLY with billing insurance.

It is heavily regulated.

The effecient omniscient feds now decide what's good and necessary and make people who don't need something pay for those who do.

My end gets paid by insurance and we get ****ed all the time.

You guys are all idiots.

ACA was an unmitigated success... Has no one bothered watching insurance company stocks go up recently?

Ive said it before, I'll say it again. The point of the ACA was clearly to funnel money to insurance companies. And it worked.

Well at least the lower and middle class have lots of stock holdings in insurance companies.

The insurance monopoly and income are a side benefit of the act, control is the motive. Precedent first and then adjust. Wait for it. She's rollin round the bend, and I ain't seen the sunshine since I don't know when.

If the ACA was govt controlled health care that may make sense. But the only thing the govt has acquired control over is the ability to mandate/tax/penalize a minimum health insurance coverage and mandate insurance companies provide that to everyone (for a fee of course).

The ACA seems to me to be the least effective option from all aspects. It doesn't create socialized medicine like the left wanted, it ensures the healthy young have to provide income to a company for a service they don't need. The chaos allows insurance companies the excuse they want to charge whatever fee they want...

It's quite beautiful actually... If you're income is tied to insurance company profits.... (Mine isn't... I wasn't smart enough to pull it off. But someone certainly was)
