AP - CBS has ordered "60 Minutes" correspondent Lara Logan and her producer to take a leave of absence following a critical internal review of their handling of the show's October story on the Benghazi raid.

The show relied on an interview with a security contractor who said he was at the U.S. mission in Libya the night it was attacked last year, but questions were raised about whether the source was lying.

A CBS internal report obtained by The Associated Press on Tuesday found the network did a poor job vetting the story.

CBS Chairman Jeff ****er, who is also the "60 Minutes" executive producer, said he asked Logan and her producer, Max McClellan, to take a leave of absence.

The length of time wasn't determined.

GOP Rep: I ‘Absolutely’ Voted To Cut Funding For Embassy Security
By Ben Armbruster on October 10, 2012 at 12:20 pm

Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) said today that he voted to cut funding for

U.S. embassy security amid political attacks from Republicans that the Obama

administration did not do enough to secure the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi,

Libya that was attacked last month.

Republicans and their allies have been trying to politicize the attack — which killed

four Americans, including the U.S. Ambassador to Libya — suggesting, without evidence,

the Obama administration may have ignored intelligence that the attack was imminent

, didn’t properly secure the Benghazi compound and is now trying to cover it up.

But hidden beneath the GOP campaign is the fact that House Republicans voted

to cut nearly $300 million from the U.S. embassy security budget. When asked

if he voted to cut the funds this morning on CNN, Chaffetz said, “Absolutely“:

O’BRIEN: Is it true that you voted to cut the funding for embassy security?

CHAFFETZ: Absolutely. Look, we have to make priorities and choices in this

country. We have — think about this — 15,000 contractors in Iraq. We have

more than 6,000 contractors, private army there for President Obama

in Baghdad.

And we’re talking about can we get two dozen or so people into Libya to

help protect our forces? When you’re in tough economic times, you have

to make difficult choices how to prioritize this.

so get of the president's ass and talk to the repubicns

Now appears that this could be payback for Lara's opinion that those responsible should be punished.

Rick.

Funding didn't prevent those people from getting help.

The State dept. and the Half White house did.

I know how much you like fishing here, but if you have no problem with the intimidation going on from the administration to the press and military......

Then you really are an nincompoop.

No it wasn't, and I won't forget. The President should also be required to take a leave of absence for his part, or lack of it.
