Are you kidding me?!?!?!
McGuire was convicted in 1994 of the rape and murder of 22-year-old Joy Stewart, who was seven months pregnant. He actually sodomized her after she and her baby where dead.

McQuire's family is suing the State of Ohio because he may have "suffered" during his execution? Really??? How freakin appalling and disrespectful to his victim and her family. He suffered a lot less than his victim. I can't believe McQuire's family is going to try and make money off of this.

9mm to the back of the head. Send the empty brass to the family with a bill for the round, and the cost of keeping his ass alive on death row for 20yrs.

I thought criminals and their families couldn't profit from a crime. No crime, no execution, no suffering. Wouldn't any award just be redirected to the victims family?

Wow...that was quick. They just executed him the other day (yesterday?).

If they win, I hope they get hit by a train on their way to pick up the loot. Oh the irony.

I Heard a couple of news stories yesterday stating that it took him 15 minutes to expire. I kept thinking the end result was achieved, so what's the problem ?

No problem. People are just crazy because this is the second time Ohio has executed its criminals with untried methods. Persecution for our creativity.

Excellent point- you would think that, wouldn't you?

My sister was murdered by her husband who in turn committed suicide. Guess who got her estate?
His family.
Guess it depends on the state. We fought it up to the Maryland Supreme Court. It was a case of the survivor (husband) being the brief beneficiary of her estate before killing himself and passing it all to his family. We have gone mad.

I will be deleting this post in the near future but thought it would partly address Steve's suggestion..

First off sorry for your families loss Bloody, that IS unfrigginbeleivable......but then so is a **** ton of the laws on our countries books. That's just mind blowing to me.

Dayum! That really sucks. If his family was actually human they would have split 55/50.

Thanks, TMC, Gene. She was only 31. My parents got nothing but the heartache and legal bills.
The letter of the law sometimes supercedes the intent.

Let me know if you'd like " all " quotes of your post deleted Bloody, I will be happy to do so.

True true, yet why is it that some things seem to be open to " interpretation " vs some are etched in stone as to their meaning and intent? It's THiS that makes folks NoT trust " The Law "

Seriously doubt the case will go anywhere, other than to force the state to use better means. The only lawyers who would take a case like that are likely those who fight the death penalty on principal and/or moral grounds.

[W]hy is it that some things seem to be open to " interpretation " vs some are etched in stone as to their meaning and intent? [/quote]

It often has to do with whether the intent of the law is stated in the particular law itself; its conflict with other law and/or clarity.

Robert, thanks for your reply. But would you mind explaining to the rest of us dumbasses why the legal profession deals in verbiage who's only intent is to confuse. Brick wall

True. SC is a legalize state and if you don't have a will you are crazy as hell.

If you die without a will:

Children but no spouse: children inherit everything

Spouse but no descendants: spouse inherits everything

Spouse and descendants: spouse inherits 1/2 of your intestate property, descendants inherit everything else

Parents but no spouse or descendants: parents inherit everything

Siblings but no spouse, descendants, or parents: siblings inherit everything
