a religious experience.

A cigar shop owner said this on a radio show a couple mornings ago. I kind of agree. How would you have completed the sentence?

(I know you already completed your sentence, Xibbumbero. Not talking about that kind of sentence.)

Because they are best enjoyed at a rather slow pace, cigars allow time for meditation, a peaceful introspection of self ... they foster a sense of brotherhood, of personal assurance, and a loss of worry ...

Like religion, a love of cigars is difficult to define inasmuch as the emotions they evoke in their "practitioners" are deeply and strongly held, although there is no one basic emotion common to all ... and, like religion, cigars also elicit feelings of love and joy and a great deal of the same sense of awe we feel in a forest at twilight, or standing on a mountain top as well as a sense of contentment with our lives here and now.

I'm not as profound as you guys. Smoking a cigar is a time when no one is f___ing with me and I can enjoy a novel, music, or (rarely) conversation. It's more an enhancement of the moment than an end in itself.

Steve is much more poetic than I could ever be and agree in his thoughts.

Smoking a cigar to me is an event, whether by myself in thought, a sporting event, or up at my ge away place in vermont, having a favorite drink at the fireplace with good friends. I think what makes it an event, is that you choose a smoke to fit the occasion. My favorite is getting together with my closest friends and exchanging new smokes we have found.
