It appears it is getting some bad press.

it's not a poor entrance and a rich entrance... this article is written so untruthfully it shouldn't be taken seriously...

and out of curiousity,I wonder how the people who think this apartment is a bad idea would like to see it done?

everyone throw all the money you make into a big pile and let the trustworthy government redistribute it so we all walk into identical apartments at the end of the day no matter if we're flipping burgers or performing open heart surgery?

Well.... it's an entrance for the renters (who I think all have to qualify for low income rental units) and an entrance for owners (... I think we can all agree that condo owners in NYC fit into the "haves" category).

I think it's great. I just thought it was funny, the idea of the poor having to go in a separate entrance. They probably don't get a doorman either. Because they're poor. :)

"The building, which Extell is developing with the Carlyle Group, is to have 274 units, 219 of which will sell as condos and 55 of which will rent to individuals who make 60 percent or less of the area median income, about $51,540"

I wouldn't call 51k "poor" but I wouldn't think Le Hockeydad should be forced to interact with someone at that income bracket.

To be clear HD would use the rich entrance but it would deprive him from one of his favorite past times .... scoffing at the proles making 52G or less.

I hope at least he can turn on and off the one way mirror so if he wants them to see him scoffing at them he can do so.

Just saw the purge this weekend. In a weird way HD reminds me of the old lady. I wonder if they changed the character to an old lady so he wouldn't sue.

Mexicans are too ingenious and hardworking to be stopped by homeless spikes. They only work on your average american homeless person.

Pretty straight forward.

In these economically fraught times, it's easy to forget that the super rich earned their right to never see you, hear you, smell you, or consider your pitiful existence. Expecting them to share an entrance would be unfair.

^^^^ This has got to be from the ass kissing real estate homo who's tasked with selling them....expecting to share oxygen with dicks like that seems extreme to me.....fog

^ At least try to be accurate. What you posted was written by the person who wrote the article. Clearly they were stating their opinion in a facetious manner. Do you really think they would sell a single condo if a perspective buyer saw that low income families had access to their portion of the building? This is a good buisiness decision that also meets the legal requirements.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves. There are other condo buildings being built which have "not rich" people entrances.

Hell, the entire thing isn't unprecedented. When you stay at hotels like the Waldorf in NYC, there's the hotel entrance/elevator (for people only staying in the hotel) and there are separate tower entrances for people who have purchased apartments in the hotel.
