Actually I am a cameroon fan. Most anything camaroon is a winner. I also like CAO Extreme, I think because the ligeros are some how related to pipe tobacco. Since I am not a daily smoker, I do not have a daily go to cigar. So I like to play around. To me most maduros are ok too.
That being said, I have to give props to Fuentes. I was not disappointed when I finally got the guts to smoke my first.
You can never go wrong with a Tatuaje, Illusione, or Fuente IMHO.
I have wanted to try Ave Maria's, probably because of the cool band, but I have heard a few good comments. Most of the Rocky Patels I have smokes, which by the way are Muddy77's favs, were Camaroon, so I liked them. I have not tried the other Patels.
So far of the several Man of wars I have smoked, they earned a mediocre rating with me, but you should know, there are a lot of factors that can make or break a good smoke, so since I have not tried enough of them to really make a decision I keep aiming for them now and then.
I think it is because I spend a lot of time in camping situations on rescues off the ship that I like the KFC. it just works in the out of doors environment. The La Herencia Oscero Furete is right up there next to the KFC and they are usually paired on the same night if I am going to burn 2. By the way I have to recommand you look for a tea called Lapsang su Chun. It is a wonderfully smoky tea where the leaves are actually smoke cured like tobacco and goes great with a cigar on cold nights. It is a sipping tea, keep it warm to hot and sip it like you are smoking it. With a cigar it is just a great addition as far as I am concerned. I had heard a lot about the mutwat and the baitfish, one is a My Uzi weighs a ton, and both are box worthy for me.
Thanks to a few BOTL's here the crew are going to have quite a nice selection this year. They burned through the Gurkha's TMCTLT sent them last year like wild fire on the last short term rescue we did around Christmas and at the Christmas/New Years get together. It is going to get tough supplying them when their taste improve.
I am working on trying to develop a line of short cigars for the crew to put in their Pocket humidors. I got them all Black ops travel humidors that take 4 1/2 inch cigars. They fit in their BDU pants pockets.Right now the line up is the Uzi, and the KFC but I am open to suggestion. The Fuente Hemmingway short story sized stuff is good, but they are way out of my range. Anyone smoke any other good shorties?
