I've been Gurkha'd, it's the thought that counts

Got done teaching another group of 'Murican heroes today. I was teaching a company of Army EOD techs, about 2/3s of whom are going to deploy to the 'Stan early next year. (side note, yep, we're keeping 10K soldiers there for the next decade). A few references to cigars were made during the class, so unprovoked one of the most junior soldiers "bombs" me with a Gurkha Centurion perfecto.

Actually a nice looking cigar, and I honestly like most the Gurkhas I've had. I'm also (the opposite of full) on Gurkhas at the moment, so I do look forward to ashing this cigar. I don't think I've had a Gurkha this year, so it will be a good comparison to all the ones I smoked in 12 and 13 before you azzhats got me hooked on pricier stogies.

But of course as the now retired EOD sheepdog/VFW member I can't let this N00B go unpunished, so I:

Point them to CBID since they only knew about CI/The Mothership

Gave him one of my LEC Maduro torpedos, my go-to el cheapo smoke.

GET HIS ADDY FOR AN EVEN WORSE SMACK-DOWN! ram27bat

Oh, BTW I am going to get their APO addy too and call for complete annihilation of their team humidor once they make it to the 'Stan.

I'm in.
That n00b needs to be punished for bombing his teacher with a Gurkha.
PM me their APO coordinates when you have them.

As you've expressed, it's the thought that counts. I imagine that particular Gurkha, to him, meant a lot.

Exactly. I would have enjoyed staying there and herf'ing with these soldiers, but needed to travel on to see some family on my way back to my closest family.

I like the Centurion. I always have a few in my humi. They are better with a year or so on 'em.

It's resting until at least Wednesday afternoon/evening and I may let it nap longer. Got a life insurance physical that morning and while I self-disclosed I enjoy the leaf (i'm the agent on the policy too) I don't want my urine "glowing".

BTW made a sidebet with the class that no one would make a 100 on the post-class survey or I'd increase the 5er I'm sending to a full on bomb with adult beverages etc. Two dudes only missed one. May have to smack them around for a pre-deployment herf anyway.

I'd like to send those fellas something as well. I don't know how many times we called EOD during my first deployment. Crazy SOB's.

Hahaha! Got that right, brother. Quarter of the time we would say screw it. Shoot it or maneuver past it. Especially if we were after a HVT.

Haha I'd argue with you if it wasn't so true! As an Ops guy, you can't believe how many times I marvelled at response times. We even took to calling our Weapon Intelligence Teams (WIT) "wait in truck"!

Yeah for a short time I worked the Ops desk on Speicher. Took the midnight shift and scrubbed sitreps... You won't believe the amount of times I deleted, "conducted personal maintenance" aka I washed my azz.
