Spicy. I understand that flavor characteristic in regards to a smoke. But Nutty? Which nut? a filbert is differnt from an almond. And leather. Who has tasted leather? As for other flavors, like citrus, I have a hard time tasting these even when I am looking for them. Dry, woody, acidic. These are descriptive, as are sweet or peppery. Here's one: Burnt Meat. I've read that. Honest. Cripes, if I ever tasted Burnt Meat in my smoke I'd toss that thing further than a Tiger Woods 7 iron. Then I'd sterilize my mouth with pure acetone. Then I'd find out which pasture my tobacco deal stored them. Is it me (it usually is..) or are the professional tasters taking themselves too seriously?

Just to let you know ... my wife works for a food lab which has professional taste testers on staff. Their taste buds are trained ... and they have to taste samples of leather, carboard, or whatever it takes (within reason) to fine tune their 'buds'. Not uncommon among those who 'taste' for a living ...

I hear you pain...me being a non-cigar snob, tend to just enjoy the flavors of cigars. Although I can relate to many descriptions of flavors, I don't spend my time smoking thinking of descriptions, rather just enjoying a good complex tabacco taste. I am not knocking on people that have a passion for describing cigars, wine and other spirits, it's just gets in the way of my enjoyment. I prefer certian cigars and drinks but it's sometimes hard for me to describe why. BTW, I didn't care for the Fighting ****, found them to be inconsistant and bland, I think a "cigar boom" cigar. IMHO, I would spend the $25 on a "premium" 5 pack instead.

Being around gun holsters and horses, baseball gloves and gof golves and weightlifting gloves, etc. I have to say I have had my share of leather in my mouth for some reason or not. I know the good Lord gave us two hands but there is just something like tightening a leather strap on a glove using your teeth that I can't explain....you ex-baseball athletes know what I mean. That is how I describe the taste of leather from the countless times of tugging and pulling with my teeth. Not a bad taste either!

Very good, uncle. But do the flavors linger or simply wave on their way by the palate? Perhaps I was being too smug in my post, but I just want to know what the cigar IS while smoking it. Does it grab you by the cajones or simply tickle your nostrils? Do you taste it for days or is the flavor gone mid puff? Do you gaze at it as if it were a beautiful woman, or do you put it down and forget you even lit it up? The fact that you may have regurgitated your morning Starbucks does not tell me if it's good or bad. I think I spelled regurgitated wrong.
Anyhow, which Padron were you refering to in your post? They seem to be so different. Or do you mean ALL?

well, i must admit i thought i was the only one who couldn't figure that stuff..... i've tried, but it just don't work.... I agree with those that like a cigar just because they like it... IMO, try a cigar, if you like the flavor then keep on buying... if you don't, trash it and don't ever buy it again or put the rest in your 'dor and try again later (if you were lucky enough to win a box or 5 pack here at cb).... enjoy your smokes...
