I am curious what everyone thinks about Davidoff of Geneva opening in Tampa. Looks to be fancy shmancy and so I suspect this is not going to be a place to find bargains. I am trying to understand why Davidoff is expanding their retail operations and what niche they fill. Is this exciting news? Has anyone been to any of their other stores?

Most of these stores have full service bars with high end Scotches and Bourbons and very nice surroundings.

some cigar manufacturers are proud of their cigars and charge more than anyone else. i have yet to try a davidoff.

with the average price of 14-18 dollars, I prolly won't...

Proud is good. They are locating in a high end retail environment close to the airport. All the more power to them. I have never had a Davidoff cigar either.............I'll have to check out their grand opening and see if I can get sophisticated.

I was trying to connect the dots between (1) Davidoff moving their headquarters and warehousing to Tampa Bay, (2) their announcing new interest in making and importing cigars from Cuba and (3) opening this high profile retail outlet. Regarding Cuba trade, both Tampa and Miami have a big Cuban population and connection with Cuba but Miami says "no way" and Tampa says "let's make a deal!"

I have no idea if our local Free Trade zone status comes into the picture since Davidoff can import into the US without tariff and reship to Europe or Asia...but why warehouse in the US if you are shipping elsewhere - its got to be more expensive..

I would suspect a great deal on maneuvering around from different companies as the Cuban link gets stronger. Davidoff may perhaps have better insight than some others. Possibly it's all in our heads thinking this way but not much happens just by a whim
