So... the same political party that believes a private company should be allowed to exercise it's religious rights regarding homosexuality is trying to pass legislation that would prohibit ALL insurance companies (private, public, any type) from covering abortions... ostensibly because of the religious beliefs of the politicians.

Or......OR just maybe they don't think the majority of the policy holders want their funds funding THAT....I dunno

Being anti-abortion requires a very specific set of beliefs. It requires belief that prior to being born and viable, the embryo has some rights which supersede those of the mother. To believe this, one must believe that this cluster of cells is technically a human "life". Drawing an arbitrary line in the sand at "conception" = "life" is generally a religious decision, not a scientific one. Notice, the law doesn't specify any term at which it's acceptable to perform said abortion.

I'm sure there are outliers. But what's that formula? 80/20 or something like that?

I would ask 2 questions. What basis other than religious belief would this law be based on? Also do we want our government taking away free will?
